We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to Stefanie Zanders with Zanders Sporting Goods, for their generous donation to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.
Zanders Sporting Goods donated three patrol rifles, along with ammunition that will be issued to our patrol deputies. This donation will directly help equip our deputies with the tools and resources they need to safely serve and protect the citizens of Randolph County.

This week, students across Randolph County are returning to school.
The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office asks the public to use extra caution during daily commutes. Our deputies will be increasing patrols and enforcement throughout the county to help ensure everyone arrives safely.
As in previous years, our Patrol Deputies will be doing daily walk- throughs in every school in the county to provide an added layer of safety, and to serve as a resource for students and staff.
During the 2025–2026 school year, our office completed 221 walk-throughs in school buildings across the county. We remain committed to maintaining a strong, visible presence in all of our schools throughout the 2026–2027 school year to provide additional support whenever it is needed.
I am fully committed to the safety of our students and staff as they return to the classroom.
On behalf of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, I extend my best wishes to all students, staff, and parents as you begin a successful new school year.

Today was a powerful reminder of what makes Randolph County such a special place to work.
A serious traffic crash brought together an incredible team of first responders and support personnel, all working side by side with one common goal: to do everything possible to help save a life. Watching so many agencies come together seamlessly, especially in the extreme heat, was something to be proud of.
Thank you to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, MedStar Ambulance, Illinois State Police, Chester Fire Department, Ellis Grove Fire Department, Sparta Fire Department, Steeleville Fire Department, Randolph County ESDA, IDOT, Randolph County Highway Department, ARCH Air Medical Services, J&S Towing, Chester Police Department, Chester Street Department, Road District #2, and everyone else who responded. Your professionalism, teamwork, and dedication were truly remarkable.
A special thank you also goes to the crew from JF Electric, who stopped by with cold drinks for everyone working on the scene. That simple act of kindness was greatly appreciated and meant a great deal on such a hot day.
When emergencies happen, agency names and uniforms don't matter. What matters is people coming together, relying on one another, and doing everything possible for someone in need. Today was an outstanding example of that teamwork, and I couldn't be more proud of everyone involved.
Please keep everyone affected by today's crash in your thoughts and prayers.

Road Closure:

Kaskaskia Street from Shawneetown Trail to Fern Valley Road, Ellis Grove will be closed all weekend (7/2 – 7/5). County highway advised they will try to get it back open to at least one lane on Monday or Tuesday. The bridge was severely damaged as a result of a hazmat traffic crash today.
