Just a heads up to the community — if you see a large presence of emergency vehicles and first responders at Kent Island High School today, there is NO emergency.

Our local first responders will be participating in the school’s Prom Promise event, helping educate students about safe decisions and the very real consequences of impaired and distracted driving.

This important program is designed to leave a lasting impact before prom weekend and help keep our students safe.

We appreciate the support from the school, volunteers, and partnering agencies who help make this event possible.

Today, we pause to honor those who gave everything in the line of duty.

On National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day, we remember the brave men and women who answered the call,
no matter the danger,
and never made it home.

Behind every name is a story. A family. A crew that still feels the loss.

Their courage wasn’t loud. It was steady. It was selfless. It was the kind that runs toward what everyone else is running from.

We carry their legacy in every call we answer, every life we protect, and every time we show up for our community.

MVC with Rollover

On April 4, just after 3:30 AM, Station 1 was alerted to assist the Grasonville Volunteer Fire Department with a motor vehicle collision involving a rollover. First arriving crews found a single vehicle overturned. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries. Units assisted on scene before returning to service.

This week for National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, we are recognizing the dispatchers who are always there behind the scenes keeping our community safe.

They are neighbors, friends, family members
The calm voice when someone is having their worst day

The steady hand making sure help gets where it needs to go
Before the trucks roll out of the station, they are already hard at work

We are lucky to have some of the best looking out for our community every single day
