Chester County 4-H Cupcakes and Cookies Baking Camp
Tuesday July 21 - Ages 5-9
Thursday July 23 - Ages 10-18

Upcoming young Pastry Chefs join us for a day of hands-on learning and baking adventures. Kids will learn basic skills such as measuring ingredients and following a recipe. The best part is the tasty treat at the end!

Dates: July 21: Ages 5-9 years
July 23: Ages 10-18
Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: The Market Building
Cost: $15 per child

The camps are divided by age, so be sure that you sign up for the correct camp day. The camps are geared towards the age group for that day, so please do not sign up your child for the incorrect day. Space is limited so be sure to sign up early!

All participants must be enrolled in 4honline.

The campers were so excited they were practically BUZZING! Chester - Lancaster 4-H Jr Beekeepers camp was a success! Youth got an up close and personal look at honeybees and the flowers they pollinate, learned about the daily life of a bee, made crafts and taste tested honey!
Thank you to both the Chester County and Lancaster County Beekeepers Association for the partnership in order to provide such a fun and informative camp for youths!

If you missed out on the Friday camp, join us for the Saturday June 20 Anglers Workshop!

Get ready to cast a line and reel in some fun at the Chester County 4H Anglers Workshop! Youth ages 5-18 will learn the basics of fishing! They will learn how to choose bait, cast a fishing rod, clean a fish, and prepare it to eat. Campers will put their new skills to the test in an exciting fishing derby to see who can catch the most fish. It’s a hands-on outdoor adventure full of learning, teamwork, and friendly competition!

Ages: 5-18 years

Location: Sunny Day Farm pond, 1229 Sunnyday Dr, Chester 29706 (When you get on Dublin Rd turn up the drive with the white fence, follow the signs to the pond.)

Must be enrolled at 4-Honline to register for the camp.

Fishing Derby prizes will be awarded to the youth who catches and reels in the most fish in each age group. Cloverbud 5-8 years, Junior 9-13, Senior 14-18

Registration closes: Wednesday June 17 (there are limited registration spots, sign up early)

The rain threatened, but held off, and this past Saturday, Chester County 4-H hosted its first day camp of the summer! The “Day at the Farm” camp was held at Sunny Day Farm, where youth had the opportunity to meet dairy cows Dizzy and Norda and learn what it means to be a dairy cow.
Campers learned about the milking process, what cows eat, how baby calves are cared for, and they learned about the many dairy products that are made from milk.
The day ended with fun hands-on learning activities as the kids made their own “total mixed ration” and they also made butter from heavy cream!

A 4-H Archery Instructor Certification Training is planned for June 18–19 in Lancaster County for adults interested in assisting with a local 4-H Archery Club. This training is open to adult volunteers from across South Carolina.
Training dates include:
• Thursday, June 18 — Classroom component from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
• Friday, June 19 — Full-day training and range time from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Participants will receive instruction on archery safety, range setup, equipment, shooting techniques, and youth development practices related to the 4-H Shooting Sports program.
This certification training is designed to prepare adult volunteers to teach and supervise youth archery programs within 4-H. The focus of the training is on safety, instruction, range management, and youth development rather than beginner shooting instruction.
The cost of the training is $100 and includes all training materials and lunch on Friday.

Jr Beekeepers Camp has been scheduled!

Get ready for a buzzing adventure learn what it takes to be a beekeeper during this 1-day Jr Beekeepers Camp.

Young explorers will journey through a bee-themed scavenger hunt filled with hand-on activities, discoveries and interactive learning stations. As campers travel through stations they will gather clues, complete activities and explore the fascinating world of honey bees and pollinators. Youth will learn about bee biology and behavior, see live bees safely displayed in an observation hive, explore real beekeeping equipment and protective gear, create bee themed crafts, and enjoy a bee and honey-inspired snack. The day is sure to to be fun filled as campers be gathering the clues needed to fill in ther very own Bee Explorer Adventure Map.

Youth ages: 7-12 years

Cost: $10 per youth

Registration closes: Monday June 8 (The camp is limited to 30 participants)
