Today , we're reminded about protecting our digital lives. Our personal information is valuable! Be careful about sharing your full name, address, phone number, passwords, location, or other private details online. Use strong, unique passwords, keep them private, and think carefully before granting apps access to your information. Remember, once something is shared online, it can be difficult to take it back.

Here’s your tip this week for Digital Citizens Week . Have you ever seen something online that looked real but turned out to be fake? Photos, videos, news stories, and even content created by artificial intelligence can sometimes be misleading. Before you believe something or share it with others, stop and ask: Who created this? Is the source trustworthy? Can I find the same information somewhere else? Remember, just because something appears online doesn't mean it's true.

Yesterday, our 8th graders took a trip back to 1776 by making iron gall ink. This is the same ink used to write the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and countless other founding documents. By combining iron sulfate, tea tannins, and a binder, students created their own working ink. Watching the pale brown mixture oxidize and turn into a deep blue-black right as it hit the air! As our nation celebrates its 250th birthday, there’s no better time to combine hands-on history with the science behind chemical and physical changes!

Last week, BRMS staff spent our Columbus Day Professional Development Day diving into Leader in Me, a program we are excited to roll out this school year!
Throughout the day staff explored Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and how these habits can help us build leadership, strengthen relationships, and empower our students to take ownership of their learning and growth. We’re excited to bring these habits to life throughout our school community as we continue to build a culture of leadership, responsibility, and personal growth.

It’s Digital Citizenship Week! This week , we’re focusing on how to be safe, respectful, and responsible online.Today’s reminder is simple: Treat people online the same way you would want to be treated in person. Words can hurt, even when they’re typed behind a screen. Before you post, comment, or send a message, think about how it might make someone feel. If you see cyberbullying, don’t join in. Instead, support the person and tell a trusted adult.
