⚠ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE⚠

Flat Coulee Road between Sage Creek Colony and Schaefer Rd due to a failed cattle guard. Liberty County Road Department is at the scene and should have the road open by the end of the day. Once work is complete and the road is safe to drive on we will post an update.

Liberty County District Court sent out jury notifications for the new jury term beginning July 1, 2026. This is your reminder that if you have received a notice and have not returned your jury questionnaire, please do so as soon as possible. If we have not received your questionnaire, your name must be turned over to the Liberty County Sheriff for personal service, pursuant to Montana law. Your questionnaire can be dropped off at the Liberty County Courthouse. If you have any questions, please call the Clerk of Court’s office directly at 406-759-5615.

PSA from Sheriff’s Office:

There is a combine with a header broke down on Broadhurst Road Between Johnny Wicks and Craig Broadhurst. Located just past Craig's on the hill. Down hill traffic can't see them. Big trucks won't be able to pass but small vehicles probably can.

PSA from Sheriff's Office:

We have been contacted by Sindija Loze, who will be going around door to door in the city of Chester and Liberty county area selling books. We have verified this individual's information.

Her vehicle is a black Mazda with Colorado license plates, which we have the information on. Don't be alarmed when you see her. She will be meeting with families in our area selling educational materials.

As of the August 11, 2026, Liberty County Commissioners Meeting, the following acts are prohibited until further notice:

1. Building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire or campfire unless noted in the exemptions on FWP’s website.

2. Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable materials.
