The Chester Hose Company, located along the west bank of the Connecticut River in central Connecticut, has been protecting the lives and property of those living in and passing through the town in addition to providing fire, rescue, and hazmat services to the residents of the 17 square mile town, since it's founding in 1912. In addition, we have mutual aid agreements with departments in Clinton, D

eep River, Essex, Haddam, Killingworth, Old Saybrook, Westbrook, and the South District station out of Middletown. Additional services from Guilford can also be called upon for Hazmat and Rapid Intervention Team (RIT).

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of longtime Chester Hose Company member and former officer, James “Jimmy” A. Zanardi.

Jimmy was a dedicated member of our organization and a proud supporter of the Chester community for many years. His kindness, generosity, and commitment to others will never be forgotten.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Zanardi family and all who knew him.

Thank you to all who donated to the SSKP Fire Department food drive! We had a future fire fighter show up, some regular supporters as well as new comers together we collected 486 pounds of food. We have an amazing community and we appreciate all of you.

🚒 Food Drive on April 18th 🚒

Chester Hose Company will be hosting a Food Drive for The Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries, Inc. on
📅 Saturday, April 18, 2026
⏰ 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
📍 6 High Street, Chester CT

We are collecting non-perishable food items only to help support local families in need.
Suggested donation items include:
• Pasta sauce
• Meals in a can
• Soups
• Peanut butter & jelly
• Cereal
• Other boxed or canned foods

If you are attending the Easter Egg Hunt on April 4th at noon, a collection box will be available to drop off donations early.

Last night, members of Chester Hose Company Inc. conducted a training drill focused on hose stretches, search techniques, and teamwork. Regular training helps keep our members prepared and ready to serve the community. We also appreciate being given the opportunity to use the building for training.

The Chester Hose Company Auxiliary Easter Egg Hunt was a great success today. Thanks to everyone who came out and made it a fun day for the kids and families. We appreciate the support and look forward to next year!

The Chester Hose Company is saddened to hear of the passing of former member Zigmund “Ziggy” Makuck. We thank him for his time with the company and his years as part of the Chester community. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.

⚠️❄️ Winter Storm Update ❄️⚠️

A Blizzard Warning is in effect for the southern half of Connecticut, with a Winter Storm Warning for the rest of the region. Snowfall totals of 1 to 2 feet are expected across much of the area.

Light snow showers are possible tonight and tomorrow, but the main storm is expected to begin after 6 PM tomorrow. Use this time to complete storm preparations.

🔌 Generator Safety:
• Never run generators inside homes, garages, or buildings
• Keep generators well away from buildings, doors, windows, and objects
• Only operate generators outdoors in a well-ventilated area

🏠 Home Safety Reminders:
• Check that carbon monoxide and smoke detectors are working
• Keep heating equipment clear of combustible materials
• Limit unnecessary travel once conditions worsen

Call 911 for emergencies. Additional updates will be provided as need
