Today is Women Veterans Recognition Day. While women have nobly served our nation since its inception, they’ve served as a formal part of our Armed Forces since 1901. It wasn’t until June 12, 1948, however, that then-President Truman signed the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act that allowed women to serve as permanent and regular members of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force.
Data suggests there’s more than 2M living women veterans – and more than 44,000 right here in in the Great Lakes State.
