After three weeks of posts that normalize uncertainty, center children's experiences, and show the support system, our final posting for Foster Care Awareness Month turns to the prospective family: this could be you. For Week 2 of Foster Care Awareness Month, we want to talk about meeting children where they are. We shift from the foster parent's uncertainty to the child's experience. What does it mean to meet a child where they are? Every child in care has experienced some form of loss. This week invites prospective families to understand that fostering begins with listening, acceptance, and creating space for a child to feel safe.

"Being ready is not a feeling. It's a decision." 💙

When the Melvin's got the call to foster a teenager, they didn't wait to feel ready. They made a decision to show up. What began as an open guest room became a space filled with purpose, connection, and family.

Teens don't need perfection. They need steady adults who listen, encourage, and are willing to walk alongside them.
