Thanks to all the awesome volunteers and site leaders that came out for the James River Regional Cleanup today! The preliminary numbers are impressive. There were 11 cleanup sites in 8 localities. 179 volunteers and 14 boats participated, and together they collected: 160 bags of trash and recyclables, 17 tires, a lawn chair, a toilet, an air-conditioner, a Barbie doll (appropriate for this summer) an unopened Easter egg, pictures and picture frames, and numerous car parts and many other weird things. A lot of these things wash in from streets and neighborhoods, so cleaning up the river starts at home too!

Have a look at two more of our cleanup sites. The Dutch Gap Conservation Area is a great place to launch your boat (motorized or paddle craft) for the cleanup and the Falling Creek Reservoir is great for pedestrians too. Thanks to our partners in the Chesterfield County Environmental Engineering Department and Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation for hosting! https://www.chesterfield.gov/Facilities/Facility/Details/Dutch-Gap-Conservation-Area-and-Boat-Lan-90
