The Junior Federated Women’s Club of Chester (JFWCC) is federated under the charter of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs. The GFWC is an international women’s organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service. We are also a member of the state, General Federation of Women’s Clubs-Virginia, and local Lee District organizations. The Gene
ral Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) is one of the world’s largest and oldest nonpartisan, nondenominational, women’s volunteer service organizations, founded in 1890 and chartered by the 56th United States Congress in 1901. More than 100,000 members in affiliated clubs in every state and more than a dozen countries work in their own communities to support the arts, preserve natural resources, advance education, promote healthy lifestyles, encourage civic involvement, and work toward world peace and understanding. JFWCC members are dedicated to positively affecting the lives of residents in and around Chester, Virginia. We actively contribute to our community whether it be volunteering our time, collecting donations, or lifting each other up in times of need and encouragment. Our project work supports various areas including education, health and home life. Through offering our time, energy and talents, we are dedicated to serving our community. Last year, we had 58 members, completed 23 projects, volunteered 2,683 hours, and provided $72,000 in monetary and in-kind donations to support our community.
