Our 10th Anniversary Harvestfest is in the books! We were so concerned about the weather, checking the weather app hourly for weeks - and somehow, despite the constant rain all day, today was just as amazing as ever. Our community showed up and we had a blast even if it was with wet shoes. Huge thank you to all of our amazing residents who came out, to all of our vendors, volunteers, police, firefighters, EMS and everyone who stopped by today whether it was for 2 minutes or 2 hours. And the biggest thank you to our amazing township staff, for their work today, and for all of their work over the past months to make all of behind-the-scenes puzzle pieces come together to make such an amazing day.

I am taking any opportunity I can to get our kids involved and interested in our government!

Stop by the township tent at our Harvest Festival this Sunday from 12-4 or at the Chesterfield PTO’s Trunk or Treat on Saturday, October 24th and get involved in the lawmaking process! Everyone will have an opportunity to vote for the new, official bird of Chesterfield Township. It’s a fun way to see how important your voice really is and learn how our governing process works. We’ll calculate the votes and the township committee will vote on a resolution officially designating the bird with the most votes.

This year, we are helping our friends at the Chesterfield Elementary PTO collect candy for their Trunk or Treat! This is an awesome event for the kiddos. Candy can now be dropped off in the box in the municipal building’s lobby!

Storm update: Our Chesterfield Township Police Department - NJ has been out working tirelessly keeping our roads clear and responding to other storm-related hazards. They are out and about and are proactively addressing issues to keep them from becoming bigger issues. I am extremely grateful to them and all of our first responders for keeping us safe. If you have an emergency, please call 911. If I can be of any assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Earlier this month, I had the honor of attending Chesterfield Township Fire Department’s promotional and awards ceremony, where they honored several of their members for their brave and selfless actions over the past year. I was left speechless hearing Chief Lynch detail some of the events that took place, and the heroic responses of our firefighters. These guys deserve as much recognition as possible, so tonight, we are going to be doing an abbreviated reading of the awards at our township committee.

Great news - our new Amazon hub is officially here. It’s located at the Shoppes at Old York Village in the alleyway between Ashley Rapp Photography & Gervasio’s. The township worked with Amazon over the past several months after hearing directly from residents who did not have a convenient location for their packages.

The township has been pushing for this reopening to be sooner rather than later, and after months of following up with the county, I’m very happy to share that the closure is expected to be lifted next week (pending no unforeseen issues). The road should be fully open by Monday evening. Thank you everyone for your patience.

The County is closing Structure .19 (Old York rd. Bridge) on or about March 26th – The road closure on Old York Road (C.R. 660) is expected to last for approximately 12 weeks barring any unforeseen circumstances. Old York Road (C.R. 660) will be closed between Borden Lane and Recklesstown Way to all thru traffic to make the necessary repairs and upgrades to Burlington County Structure .19. Local traffic will be able to enter the closure area to access their properties but will not be able to cross the bridge. Please coordinate to have any of your regular bus routes that utilize this road to be detoured during this time. The County will notify the 911 dispatch center.

Recycling pickup next week will be on Tuesday.

The Burlington County Department of Solid Waste and Recycling is making changes to the recycling schedule next week due to the Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 7.

Recycling collections for the towns listed below will have their collections changed because of the holiday:

Bordentown City, Bordentown Twp., Chesterfield, Fieldsboro, Florence, Mansfield: Recycle Tuesday, September 8.

Medford Lakes, Medford, and Shamong: Recycle Wednesday, September 9.

Delran, Moorestown, and Riverside: Recycle Thursday, September 10.

Beverly, Delanco, Edgewater Park, and Willingboro: Recycle Friday, September 11.

Burlington City, Burlington Twp., Springfield, and Westampton: Recycle Saturday, September 12.

(Note: Burlington City residents impacted by Wood Street Fair located on High St., Pearl St., Union St., Wood St., and Watkins Ln. will recycle on Monday, September 14.)

Burlington County is one of the only counties in New Jersey to collect recycling from all its towns and one of the few to not charge a fee for this service. Last year, close to 75 million pounds of recyclables were collected from Burlington County residents, saving their towns more than $3.8 million in landfill fees.
