As we embrace this joyful season, I want to take a moment to wish you all a very Merry Christmas filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

I’ll be taking some time off to spend with my family before the General Assembly session begins in just 2 weeks. I hope you all find time to relax and enjoy the holidays too!

Wishing you peace, joy, and all the magic of the season!

Continuing our Christmas cheer deliveries with a stop at the Hopewell Police Department to drop off a ton of Waves Sandwich Company gift cards for our police and City of Hopewell Sheriff's Office. Happy to support a great local business and thank our men and women in law enforcement for all they do to keep us safe!

Dropped off toys and books at Abundant Life Church of Deliverance to spread joy this holiday season for families in need at two local apartment communities. Thank you to everyone who donated to make Christmas a little easier for our neighbors.

And it doesn’t stop there! Church volunteers are spending the day wrapping these wonderful gifts, ensuring that every child feels the magic of the season. 🎄❤️

Want to help? It’s not too late to drop toys off this morning or offer to lend a wrapping hand! Abundant Life is on Happy Hill Road and is a true blessing to our community!

🎉🌊 Exciting news! Today, we celebrated the grand opening of our newest local gem, The Salty Siren, right on the beautiful James River! 🌅✨ The ribbon-cutting ceremony was so much fun thanks to Hopewell - Prince George Chamber of Commerce and Prince George County, Va., and it was great to hear how so many people are already supporting the newest adventures for owners, Jessica and Kat!

I’m especially looking forward to enjoying a warm summer breeze on their gorgeous patio. It’s going to be the perfect spot to relax and soak in the views. Cheers to new beginnings and tasty adventures ahead! 🍽️❤️

Today, I stopped by Elizabeth Scott Elementary PTA to drop off 100 books for students working hard in reading! It brings me so much joy to give back to a school that has given my family so much, loved our time as Scott Scorpions! I was also happy to sponsor lunch for the amazing staff with Principal Julie Buntich!

Healthy moms, heathy families, healthy communities 💕 A great day at the Capitol with and lots of moms as we celebrated improvements in the last few years around maternal health but focused on more work to be done - a shared commitment to strengthen maternal health in the Commonwealth focused around three key pillars: improving data, expanding targeted high-quality care, and increasing awareness.

Fun to snag a pic with Thomas Dale moms - former students, teacher and current mom of a Knight; happy to support the diaper drive; and left the Capitol determined to improve outcomes for moms, babies and families across Virginia!

We had a great time with a few falls at the Hopewell skating rink! Open Thursday-Friday-Saturday from 5-8pm! It’s also fabulous that it’s right next door to Saucy's Barbecue in Hopewell so we had a delicious meal afterwards too!

Today, we gathered for the heartfelt Wreaths Across America - Official Page ceremony, a beautiful tribute to those who have sacrificed for our freedom. A huge thank you to Andrena and David Neary for their tireless efforts in making the event a success ❤️

I’d also like to extend my gratitude to the incredible groups that donated wreaths from our local VFW, American Legion, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and so many veterans and their families who helped including:
🇺🇸 VA0246P - Southern Virginia American Legion Riders Post 284
🇺🇸 VA0117P - Frances Bland Randolph Chapter NSDAR
🇺🇸 VA0018P - Oldies But Goodies Classic Cruizers Inc
🇺🇸 VA0043P - Crater Chapter Warrant Officers Association
🇺🇸 VHopewell Moose Lodge 1472odge 1472

I encourage everyone to stop by City Point National Cemetery to see the beautiful wreaths on display before January 11th. Take a moment to honor and remember the brave individuals who have served our country. 🇺🇸

Building Strong Parent Advocates

PEATC, in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Education, invites families to join us for our online training course, Building Strong Parent Advocates.

Families of children receiving special education services find themselves in a world filled with complicated policies, confusing acronyms and terms, and piles of paperwork. Often families find themselves looking for information and background knowledge to help them better support their children through the Individualized Education Program (IEP).

The Building Strong Parent Advocates training provides information to help families build a solid foundation to understand the special education process while empowering them to be their child’s best advocate.

These were the three young men who joined our family for a holiday meal in 2018 through the Adopt-a-Soldier program. I don’t know where they are today, but I’m thankful we could share our home with them when they couldn’t be with their own families.

Fort Gregg-Adams has worked with our friends at CaRMA to bring this program back, and I’m even more thankful that our community answered the call! Yesterday, less than 1/3 of the young men and women who wanted a place to go for the holidays had been adopted and after the news story, not only did they all get adopted, but your generosity allowed more young soldiers to be added to the list!

Generosity, love, joy - keep spreading it ❤️🎄❤️

Thanks for helping with our efforts to spread the word!

The Anchor Room Bar & Grill is back open in Hopewell! Under new ownership, this historic spot has been transformed, revealing the stunning original brick walls and beautiful ceiling rafters that showcase the building’s historic charm that had been covered up with plaster for decades. Victoria and Eric Robinson have done an amazing job with renovations.

Stop by Friday night for live music and a chance to make new memories in a place that holds so much history in our city. 🎶

Have photos of you or your family in the Anchor Room? Victoria is creating a wall of memories and would love to include yours!

Grateful for the opportunity to connect with the CaRMA partnership today over a working lunch. Capitol Region Military Alliance of Virginia (CaRMA-VA) is a partnership that includes Fort Gregg-Adams, Fort Barfoot, and Defense Supply Center - Richmond. CaRMA-VA’s goal is to support the quality of life and national defense for the region by bringing together the military, government, business, education, and civic leaders.

CaRMA-VA was chartered on February 1, 2024, and is supported by the Commonwealth of Virginia, the three installations, local governments, and chambers of commerce. One of the benefits of CaRMA-VA is that it provides a structure for organizations to work together more closely, sharing ideas and resources for the mutual benefit of the installations and the region.

One of our CaRMA partners is going to be a familiar face around the General Assembly Building this coming session! Larry Gammon, the Veterans Service Officer with the American Legion Family and liaison with the Veteran Community Network will be serving as the Veteran Liaison in my office during the upcoming General Assembly session. His deep expertise and commitment to supporting our veteran community will be invaluable during session.

Looking forward to continuing to work closely with the CaRMA partners and Larry to address the needs of our service-members, veterans, and military families.
