Folks,
After discussion with the Beulah Parks and Recs folks...we've decided to change the Makerspace hours to Tuesdays, Jan. 13-April 21 (not held 2/17, 3/17, 3/31), 1-3 p.m. The course designation in the Beulah Parks and Recs website is....Course 49093.
Class sign up is limited to 20 and unfortunately, Beulah does not allow walk-ins. So sign up for a spot now if you really plan on using the new facility.

Folks, I have some good news I can finally share!

As you know from my previous reports, the Makerspace at Bird High School was closed. We got a lot of comments from folks about alternatives and I suggested the Makerspace at Chesterfield County Public Library Central Branch. Still a very good choice with talented mentors (Terron Brown and Josh).

Now however, I can share with you that we have worked out a deal with Chesterfield County Parks and Rec to offer an adult Makerspace activity at the Beulah Rec Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 8 PM.

https://anc.apm.activecommunities.com/chesterfieldparksrec/activity/search/detail/24746?onlineSiteId=0&locale=en-US&from_original_cui=true

We won't have a lot of equipment to start with, just 3d printers, laser cutter and a large scale vinyl cutter. But we hope to add more as time goes. on.

So for those of you looking to start or complete Makerspace Projects, I recommend you register for the activity. In order to use the facility, you must register using the link above. You can attend at any time, but walk in's off the street are not accepted....Parks and Rec policy. If you plan on joining Dana, Jerry, Chris, Darcy and me at Beulah...please sign up quickly as there are only 20 sign up positions for our initial offering.

I hope to see many of you again in our new facility!

Folks,
I made a mistake on name of the person to contact at the Chesterfield County Public Library Central Library Branch Makerspace. To get assistance with projects you previously were doing at the Bird Makerspace. Contact Terron Brown or his colleague Josh!

They have a great makerspace and are more than willing to help in our absence.

Folks,
It's with quite a bit of sadness that I have to announce that the Chesterfield County Makerspace, hosted by LC Bird High School has been permanently closed. The school informed us that they need the space for classroom instruction and so we've removed our materials and "closed shop"
It's been a good 7 years, but all things come to an end. Our mentors, Dana, Jerry, Chris and I will probably start attending the Makerspace located at the Chesterfield County Public Library's Central Library Branch located at 7051 Lucy Corr Blvd, Chesterfield, VA 23832. That space is open on Thursdays from 2:45 to 7PM. They have quite a lot of equipment tools so you should be able to complete projects you would have done at Bird. You can always ask for Anthony, the Makespace director, for assistance.
I hope to see some of you there.
