🎒 Back to School! 📚

As a new school year begins, I want to wish all of our students, teachers, staff, administrators, and School Resource Officers a safe, successful, and exciting year ahead.

To our students: Be curious, work hard, be kind, and look out for one another.

To our teachers and school staff: Thank you for the dedication, patience, and care you provide every day.

And to our School Resource Officers: Thank you for being a trusted presence in our schools and for helping keep our students and staff safe.
As everyone heads back to school, let's all do our part to make safety a priority, slow down in school zones, watch for children and buses, stay alert, and give our schools the respect and support they deserve.

Wishing everyone a safe and successful school year! 🍎📚

Welcome back, and stay safe!

It was an honor to attend the hose uncoupling ceremony for the new Fire & Rescue Station 3 today in Partlow. It was great seeing so many familiar faces and having the opportunity to support the dedicated men and women who answer the call every day.
The ceremony also included a touching dedication memorial honoring Chief Gary Campbell, a fitting tribute to his service, leadership, and lasting impact on our fire and rescue community.
As someone who has spent a lifetime in public safety, I know firsthand the importance of investing in our first responders and ensuring they have the resources they need to serve our community safely and effectively.
Congratulations to everyone who helped make this project a reality. I look forward to seeing the positive impact this new station will have for years to come.

Today, we celebrate 250 years of American independence. A milestone that reminds us of the courage, sacrifice, and enduring ideals that have shaped our nation since 1776.

Here in Spotsylvania County, history surrounds us and reminds us that freedom is never guaranteed. It is preserved by generations of Americans who have answered the call to serve their country and their communities.

As your next Sheriff, I believe protecting our community means protecting the constitutional principles that unite us: liberty, justice, equal protection under the law, and respect for the rights of every citizen. Safe communities are built on integrity, accountability, and public trust.

As we commemorate America’s 250th birthday, let us honor those who came before us, celebrate the freedoms we enjoy today, and recommit ourselves to leaving an even stronger nation for those who follow.

Happy Independence Day, and God bless the United States of America.

Deputy, Addict, Brother—Redemption is possible.

It was an honor to stand before nearly 100 participants in the HARP (Helping Addicts Recover Progressively) Program today at the Chesterfield County Jail alongside my friend Brian Freeman at the invitation of Sheriff Karl Leonard.

Brian and I both wore a badge, but our lives took very different paths. His journey led through addiction and recovery. Mine led through a career in law enforcement. Years later, those paths crossed again—not by coincidence, but with a shared purpose.

Together, we spoke about second chances, faith, genuine friendship, and the hope that recovery is possible. We wanted everyone in that room to know that a person’s past does not have to determine their future.

I’ll share a podcast in the comments that tells our story in greater detail. It’s a longer listen, but I hope it encourages anyone who believes change is still possible.

I’m grateful to God for bringing Brian back into my life and for opening doors to share this message. Sheriff Leonard’s nationally recognized HARP Program is changing lives through accountability, mentorship, and recovery, and I am thankful to have played a small role in that mission.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there. What a blessing it is to have two great kids of my own and to share life with such an amazing family. Grateful for the love, laughter, and memories we make together every day. Wishing all fathers a day filled with family and appreciation. And today, we also honor and remember the fathers who are no longer with us but whose love, guidance, and impact continue to shape our lives. Their legacy lives on in the lessons they taught, the values they instilled, and the memories we cherish. ❤️

Today, we recognize Juneteenth, an important part of our shared American history and a lasting reminder of the promise of freedom.

Here in Spotsylvania County, history is always close to us. It reminds us that the progress our nation has made was built through generations of courage, faith, sacrifice, resilience, and service. It also reminds us of our shared responsibility to preserve the principles that unite us as Americans.

Juneteenth offers an opportunity to reflect on the enduring importance of freedom, justice, human dignity, and equal treatment under the law.

In public service, those principles must be demonstrated through action. I believe the Sheriff’s Office should protect the rights of every person, serve every neighborhood fairly, foster trust, promote safety, and treat everyone with dignity, professionalism, and respect.

Community safety is strongest when it is built upon fairness, accountability, integrity, and mutual respect. Although we may come from different backgrounds, traditions, and perspectives, we share one county, one country, and a common interest in a safe, strong, and united community.

Today, we respectfully recognize Juneteenth and the enduring American belief that freedom, opportunity, and justice belong to all.

Happy Juneteenth!

Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Memorial Day is more than a long weekend, it is a solemn reminder that our liberties were paid for by heroes who never came home.
To the families carrying the weight of that loss, we honor you as well. Your sacrifice is not forgotten.
May we all take a moment today to reflect, give thanks, and remember those who gave everything for this country. Their courage and legacy will live on forever.

🇺🇸 Never forgotten. Forever honored.

As National Police Week comes to an end, I encourage everyone to continue showing appreciation and support for the men and women who put on the badge each and every day. Their sacrifices extend far beyond a single week of recognition, impacting not only their own lives, but also the lives of their families and the communities they serve. After 27 years with the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office, I have witnessed firsthand the dedication, courage, and selflessness that law enforcement officers bring to the job every day. Please take a moment to thank those who continue to protect and serve, not just this week, but throughout the entire year.
