The awards keep coming this week at West Geauga! Today, in the annual Chicken Flying Contest at the Geauga County Fair, Superintendent Dr. Nancy Benincasa flew Oakley the hen farther than our rival chicken-flying competitor from Kenston!

Our fourth-grade students attending the Geauga Know & Grow field trip at the fairgrounds were on hand to cheer Oakley on to victory. Congratulations to Dr. Benincasa on her first win in the contest—and for keeping this fun tradition alive for our students!

It is with pride and excitement that we announce Ryan Patti, West Geauga High School Principal, has been named the 2026 Ohio High School Principal of the Year!

This prestigious honor is a reflection of Ryan’s exceptional leadership and dedication to students. He is the first person in the history of the Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators (OASSA) to be named both Ohio Assistant Principal of the Year (2019) and Ohio Principal of the Year.

We could not be more proud to have Ryan leading West Geauga High School.

🎤🌟 A Shining Star! 🌟🎤

West Geauga High School student Charlotte Speyer has been named the winner of Shining Star CLE!

This incredible singing competition began with more than 160 vocalists before narrowing to 10 finalists, who took the stage at the Mimi Ohio Theatre at Playhouse Square. Charlotte advanced to the Top 4 and was ultimately selected by a combination of judge and audience votes as the competition’s winner!

As the winner, Charlotte received a college scholarship and the incredible opportunity to perform with the Cleveland Pops Orchestra!

Please join us in congratulating Charlotte on this outstanding and well-deserved achievement! We are so proud of you!
