A reminder that members of our Tree Board and Girl Scout Troop 35775 will be at the opening date of the Chesterton's European Market tomorrow to distribute free seedlings while supplies last! The species this year are Eastern Redbud and Ninebark. 🌳

We are thankful every year for the opportunity to participate in Rebuilding Together Duneland! This year we worked with The Duneland Garden Club on a few landscaping projects at Thomas Centennial Park. We had a fantastic group of volunteers this year! We spread about 30 yards of mulch around various areas of the park, and started the prep work for new landscaping around the recently renovated bandstand. Thanks to everyone that helped! 🤝👊😀

We always enjoy participating in the Town's annual Arbor Day Celebration! This year we planted an Eastern Redbud at Thomas Centennial Park. The tree was planted as part of ongoing efforts to improve the north tree line at the park. Thanks to our friends at The Duneland Garden Club for providing the tree!

Also, we want to thank Girl Scout Troop 35773 for planting a White Oak on the west side of the pond at Coffee Creek Park. The tree was planted with guidance from Wellsand Landscaping. We appreciate their support!

A reminder that our Tree Board will be at the opening date of the European Market this Saturday to distribute free seedlings. The species are Eastern Redbud and Ninebark. These will go fast, so get there early! 🌳🌳🌳

The Prairie Duneland Trail will be closed between Jackson Blvd. and Pearson Rd. starting next Monday, April 27 for paving. Signage will be posted and we kindly ask for all pedestrians and cyclists to observe the closure. The project will take approximately one week depending on the weather.

This will be the first phase of repaving our 3.1 mile stretch of the Prairie Duneland Trail with the remaining segments to be repaved over the next few years.

Thanks to the wonderful ladies from Tri Kappa - Chesterton for stopping by recently to gift our department this snack basket! They also installed a Little Library at Dogwood Park in 2025. We appreciate everything they do for our department and the community! 😀

Our department would like to extend our gratitude to Troop 908 member Jack Gearhart on the recent improvements he made to Chesterton Park as part of his Eagle Scout Project. Jack took the initiative to enhance our community space near the baseball field by installing a pet waste station, adding two receptacles, and setting up security cameras to help keep the area clean and safe for everyone. Because of Jack’s efforts, families, athletes, and pet owners can enjoy a cleaner and more secure park experience. Please join us in congratulating Jack on achieving this milestone and for making a lasting impact on our community. Thank you, Jack!
