Looks like Officer Tony still remembers his 5th grade geography! 🌎📚

We love seeing our School Resource Officers spending time in the classroom and connecting with students. Officer Tony recently had his geography skills put to the test by Mrs. Olson’s class at Liberty Intermediate School, and thankfully, he passed with flying colors!

Great job, Officer Tony, and thanks to the students for keeping him on his toes! 👮‍♂️🌎📚

This free, 7-week program will run 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 evenings from 𝟔𝐏𝐌-𝟗𝐏𝐌, 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟕𝐭𝐡 – 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟖𝐭𝐡. Participants will get a behind-the-scenes look at CPD operations with both classroom and hands-on activities.

Topics include K9, Drone, Emergency Vehicle Operations, Investigations, Crime Scene, Patrol Operations, SWAT, and many more! Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Applicants must be 18 or older and live, work, or worship in Chesterton. 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝟏𝟓 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬.

FREE WATER still available at the Chesterton Fire Department

The Chesterton Police Department’s School Resources Officers are now distributing FREE WATER from the bay of the Chesterton Fire Department’s station house, 602 Broadway.

The distribution will last until 10 p.m. TONIGHT, Friday, Aug. 14.

Water will continue to be available over the weekend—or until it’s gone—from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 15-16

Each person PRESENT in the vehicle may now take one case each.

Please access the CFD from the North Eighth Street entrance. On leaving you’ll be directed to the exit on Broadway.

FREE WATER now available at the Chesterton Fire Department

The Chesterton Fire Department is now distributing free bottles of water—a couple of pallets’ worth purchased by the Town of Chesterton—to the public from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Each person PRESENT in the vehicle may take two bottles each.

Please access the CFD from the North Eighth Street entrance. On leaving you’ll be directed to the exit on Broadway.

Community Room at Chesterton town hall now open to the public as emergency shelter

As of 3:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 11, the Community Room at the Chesterton town hall is open to the public as an emergency shelter.

The town hall is located at 726 Broadway.

Enter the town hall through the double doors facing Broadway, then immediately look right to find the Community Room.

The town hall is being powered by a backup generator, so the elderly and those on oxygen especially—but anyone in need—is encouraged to use it.

Note, however: The conditions are spartan, though restroom facilities are available.

Note also: The capacity of the Community Room is 46.

The Community Room will be open for the next 48 hours, after which the Town Council will reassess the situation on the ground.
