This was today's Ham Radio adventure. The 10 Gigahertz and above distance contest. Scott, AA2SD, Terry, N2LQH and myself Chris, KE5NJ gathered together at Brigantine Natural Resource area in New Jersey for the start of the contest with the goal of making contacts with four Hams on Block Island, RI. We all made contacts using CW and SSB. Scott and I (KE5NJ) then moved down to Cape May and made a few more contacts. We finished up in North Wildwood NJ set up next to the beach and again contacted all four Hams on Block Island setting a new distance record for both of us of 225 miles on 10 Ghz with as little as 1/2 watt of power on CW into a 22 inch dish. We were a bit of a spectacle on the boardwalk with lots of people asking what we were doing. What fun day in my first time participating in this contest.

Progress continues on the KARS Club satellite station at Kent County High School in Worton MD. We are building two circular polarized antennas soon to be installed on our new tower. There will be zero obstructions we should be able to work even low angle satellite passes of a few degrees above the horizon. It should be operational in the next few weeks.
