Date, time & place of the next meeting is listed in the below information shared by the Sheriff's office. The Sheriff is concerned with this bypass coming through Morrow County. If you'd like to voice your opinions/concerns, you're encouraged to attend these meetings.

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has released new refined routes for the proposed connector between U.S. Route 23 and Interstate 71.

While earlier reports showed multiple potential routes across three counties, the most recent proposal indicates that nearly the entire connector would run through the southern portion of Morrow County. The areas that appear to be most affected are Peru Township and Westfield Township.

As Sheriff of Morrow County, I have serious concerns about how this proposal could impact the safety and accessibility of our community. Many county and township roads could be significantly disrupted. Without the construction of adequate bridges or crossings, some roads could become dead ends, creating barriers that would affect travel throughout the county.

These changes could lead to longer response times for law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other first responders who serve and protect our residents every day.

I strongly encourage all residents to stay informed and share your thoughts and concerns with the appropriate officials as this process continues.

ODOT has created a public feedback site where you can review information and submit comments:

ODOT will also host a public open house meeting on:

March 10, 2026

3201 County Road 225
Marengo, OH 43334
12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
