County Hauling contacted the Township this morning about delays with collecting resident's garbage/recycling. Please keep trash/recycling out. There will be extra trucks out tomorrow to collect what was missed.

WEST DEER TOWNSHIP – WINTER EMERGENCY / WARMING STATIONS

With the upcoming forecast of severe winter weather, including heavy snow and freezing temperatures this weekend, West Deer Township will have two Winter Emergency / Warming Stations opened for Sunday, January 25, 2026 and Monday January 26, 2026. Also Saturday January 24, 2026 if needed. Residents are encouraged to utilize these shelters if needed, due to possible power outages, and the need to stay warm and safe. Residents are also reminded to call 911 should they be in need of emergency services. Locations for the Winter Emergency / Warming Stations listed below.

The Township offices will be closed Monday, January 19th in observance of Martin Luther King Day. We will reopen Tuesday, January 20th.

This is a follow-up to the recent Facebook post about the Dog Shelter. Barb Pasquale, the Head Volunteer, requested a post be sent out to the public asking that this post not be reshared. She is receiving a lot of calls and emails about the puppy mill dogs but they are currently not up for adoption and may not be for a while. The dogs all need to be vetted (spayed/neutered & dental). Also, these dogs have been caged all their lives and have not been socialized (petted/handled) so they will require a lot of socialization prior to being adopted. They will need homes with patient people that have experience with non-socialized dogs.
West Deer Dog Shelter does not utilize fostering and will post for that if required.
While the thoughtfulness is appreciated, please refrain from making any posts regarding the West Deer Dog Shelter unless you have spoken to Barb. We only want factual information going out to the public. Anything else increases the pressure on the shelter by taking its volunteers' time that could otherwise be spent on the dogs.
