As we mentioned at the beginning, this is a trial demonstration. We wanted to see how it would work having these bins throughout the village. This project was made possible through the IGAP/Environmental Department funds. These funds are limited, which is why this trash/caged bin was a trial demonstration project. We are coming to an end for this service, which is on August 22, 2025.

So far, we've learned that it helped both the City/Tribe and the households of Chevak. These bins helped minimize the amount of trash being improperly thrown at the dumpsite. It’s convenient for everyone, instead of driving all the way to the dumpsite.

It also helped us to know how we need to manage this type of service. The workers for this project said that the main issues were loose trash and animal waste. Other improvements would be having good running vehicles and a good trailer to collect and throw the trash from the bins. We have yet to hear from the community about this project.

We’d like your feedback on this type of service. Please, let us know what you like or dislike about this. All your suggestions or recommendations, as well, are welcome! You can comment on here, give us a call at 907-858-7827, email us at [email protected], or message us.
