EARN GIFT CERTIFICATES FOR THE MOST AMAZING FABRIC CRAFT AND YARN STORE IN HYATTSVILLE WITH THEIR BOOK SUMMER READING PROGRAM !

Here’s how it works:

Do audiobooks count? YES! All books count!
Do I have to be local? NO! Anyone is welcome to join. If you’d like to be considered for the gift card/grand prize, you must email us your form at [email protected] by July 1st.

Are the gift certificates redeemable online? YES! All gift cards can be used on line for product or to book classes.
Can kids participate? YES! My love of reading started as a kid, so we absolutely want to encourage kids to read.
Do the gift cards have a time limit? Yes, gift cards will be given once you turn in your form. Gift cards must be used within one year (July 2nd, 2027).

Remember the excitement of earning a personal pan pizza for reading books as a kid? Our owner Katie sure does — and that beloved reading program inspired our newest summer challenge: Books for Fabric!
While we can’t promise pizza, we can reward your reading habit with fabric money. 😉
Here’s How It Works:
📚 Pick up a reading log in-store or download one online
📚 Track the books you read and turn in your completed log by July 1st
📚 For every 5 books read, you’ll earn a $5 gift card — up to $25 total
📚 Every participant will also be entered to win a grand prize, which we’ll draw on July 2nd
We’d also love for you to leave little comments or ratings on your log! At the end of the challenge, we’ll compile a list of the most-loved and highly rated books from our community.
This challenge is open to everyone and there’s no purchase necessary to participate. We’re running this on the honor system, so please keep it fun and fair by only logging books you’ve actually read.
Happy reading — and happy fabric shopping! ✨

The privately owned Little Free Library box in front of 5708 Forest Road just got a whimsical makeover ✨📚

It’s now wallpapered, has a tiny chandelier, a “Home Sweet Home” sign, and even free dog bones for visiting pups. Honestly the cutest little storybook library ever, if I do say so myself. 🐶🏡

Stop by and take a peek! And if the box is full, feel free to leave donated books at the front door and they’ll be added soon. 📖

Saturday, April 25 is independent bookstore day. Kramer’s book is a great place to take the metro to Dupont Circle, walk across the street. Look at all the wonderful books and then have an amazing high tea or brunch in one of their two cafés.

A thoughtful, character-driven novel about two people building a life together while quietly carrying the consequences secrets, running from past lives of who they used to be. A beautifully written story mostly taking place in Ireland and NYC.

I’m reading BUCKEYE by Patric Ryan and WOW!! It hits home.

Its core theme is about a mother’s decision to leave her son with his father to raise solo at age 5 as sho moves to another state to start a new life. The emotional wound at the center of the book examines the impact of being left by one parent on a child—confusion, detachment, self-blame, passivity, depression, disengagement, lack of motivation, lack of insight of others, apathy, and the way a single loss can shape an entire inner life. Forever.

The absence of the mother becomes part of the boy’s identity deep down@. The book suggests that we are shaped as much by what’s missing as by what we’re given.

Buckeye isn’t about forgiving the mother or figuring out what the hell was going on in her own head (that’s a whole other kind of book) It’s about what discard does to a child—and how a child carries that absence into adulthood. It’s restrained, emotionally precise, and deeply empathetic, especially toward the child’s inner world and sadly his disengagement issues with others.

Kids don’t have the cognitive ability to blame a parent appropriately. So the pain turns inward. Not “my parent was broken” — but “something about me made them go.”

Introducing a new series: WHAT MY BORING HUSBAND IS READING 📚
He claims they’re “fascinating.”
I claim 90% are brown/black/red, thick, and feature a stern man staring into the middle distance.

Discuss.
