Stronger counties start with engaged leadership. WCCA supports commissioners through education, networking and unified action, helping local leaders navigate complex challenges, strengthen county government and better serve their communities.

By investing in collaboration and professional development, we’re working to ensure counties remain strong, responsive and prepared for the future.

We’re working with the Joint Appropriations Committee, the Joint Minerals, Business & Economic Development Committee and the Wyoming Association of Municipalities to modernize and reinstate the Countywide Consensus Program.

Historically, the program empowered counties and municipalities to collaboratively prioritize local infrastructure investments - supporting roads, water systems, public facilities and other critical community projects across Wyoming.

This effort reflects what Wyoming does best: strong partnerships between local governments and legislators working together to deliver Wyoming-driven solutions and better outcomes for Wyoming citizens.

That’s a wrap on WCCA’s Spring Board Meeting in Ten Sleep!

We’re always grateful for the opportunity to come together, share ideas and continue working toward a stronger future for communities across Wyoming. Collaboration like this keeps our mission moving forward and our impact growing statewide.

We’re also especially excited about a special project in the works as we prepare to celebrate WCCA’s 50th anniversary. A milestone made possible by the dedication and passion of so many over the years.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to building strong communities across Wyoming. Here’s to the work ahead and the legacy we continue to grow together. 👏

Laramie County’s very own Commissioner and WCCA Treasurer, Gunnar Malm, was recently featured on the Cowboy State Daily Show with Jake! 🎙️

During the conversation, Commissioner Malm shared his insights on a range of topics impacting Wyoming communities, including the opportunities and challenges surrounding data centers, as well as evolving tax structures and shifting revenue trends across the state.

At the heart of it all, he highlighted a powerful reminder of what makes Wyoming unique:

“It is a Wyoming value to care about your neighbor, whether it’s your neighbor next door or your neighbor two counties over.”

That truly captures the spirit of the community we’re proud to be part of. 🤠

👏 Thank you, Commissioner Malm, for your leadership and dedication to WCCA, Laramie County and communities across Wyoming!

Each spring, counties begin building their annual budgets, reviewing needs, setting priorities and planning how taxpayer dollars will be spent in the year ahead. Public input matters, and budget discussions help ensure county services remain responsive, responsible and reflective of local needs.
