Greetings Conservation Friends!
Hope you are enjoying fall #2 today! I don't know about the rest of you, but I am in the process of finishing my gardens out for the year, and a mind turns to the enviable dilemma of "when should I have my soil tested for next year?" Welp, I called on our resident Soil Scientist, Rachel, who advised that to test soil, the soil itself has to be at or above 55 degrees for 10 days to do a proper soil test. Why? Microbes, available nutrients, water concentrations, there are all kinds of reason. If you ask her, she would love to talk about it! But I digress! Fall and Spring are great for testing soil because you can get a jump on any amendments that you might need for the garden beds, your flower beds, your yard, or the area that I know you want to reseed for prairie?????
