May is National Foster Care Month. Wyoming has the highest need for foster care providers who can care for: teens, children with special needs, and sibling groups.

We work hard to keep sibling groups together. This means we need MORE homes to welcome these groups of children into their care in order to keep them together.

ALL children, no matter their age, need, or group size should have the BEST home to be welcomed into, can it be your home???

May is National Foster Care Month. The Wyoming Department of Family Services would like to recognize the family foster care providers who offer immediate safety, stability and love to vulnerable children. Thank you for all you do for children and families in Wyoming!
This year’s National Foster Care Month theme is ā€œA Home for Every Child,ā€ emphasizing the need to increase the availability of safe homes through diligent recruitment, prioritizing relatives and kin, and improving the retention of existing foster care providers while reducing entries into foster care through effective prevention and faster pathways to permanency.
šŸ Did you know that friends, teachers, or someone that a child knows can provide foster care? When a child comes into care, DFS searches for people connected to the child. If family is unable to help, DFS then looks for ā€œkin,ā€ people who the child knows and is comfortable with.

May is National Foster Care Month šŸ’™

This month, we recognize the thousands of children and youth in foster care and the community members who show up for them every day.

Children in foster care need stability, connection, and someone to advocate for their best interests. That’s where CASA comes in.

CASA volunteers are everyday people who step up to make sure a child’s voice is heard.

šŸ‘‰ Want to be part of that impact? Stay tuned this month to learn how you can help.

Did you know that 16% of the Wyoming children living in foster care are in Laramie County? There is always a need for more foster parents. It can be difficult to find placement for foster children, even more so for school aged, middle school aged children, and teenagers. If placement can't be found, these youth may need to be placed in crisis centers. If room in a local crisis center isn’t available, sometimes they are sent to other crisis centers throughout the state, which takes them away from their schools and friends. Foster parents are needed here in Laramie County to help these youth. You don’t have to be a saint, rich, married, or a parent to help. You do not need to devote years of your life to helping these children. Often, they just need a place to stay temporarily. Foster parents receive a monthly stipend to provide the children’s needs. For more information on being a foster parent please call Jessica at (307)777-5170.

Thank you Laramie County Cattlewomen for partnering with Foster Love with Beef and organizing this beef drive for our foster families. We were able to provide so many of our families with beef this week. What an amazing blessing!

In partnership with Foster Love with Beef and Laramie Co Foster Care, we collected donations from local producers to give all Laramie County foster families the gift of beef - totaling 39 roasts and 200 lbs of ground beef!!
