October is Youth Justice Action Month. In Wyoming, the Wyoming Youth Advisory Council is a great opportunity for Wyoming foster youth to make a difference in the Wyoming foster care system.
Wyoming Youth Advisory Council is a group of current and previous foster youth who collaborate with state agencies, policy makers and community stakeholders to support and enhance the Wyoming foster care system. What does advocacy with the Wyoming Youth Advisory Council look like? WYAC advocacy includes engaging with legislators and senators to shape policies that impact foster youth and sharing their lived experiences in the foster care system with Wyoming judges. WYAC advocacy also includes community engagement through events such as parades, organizing conferences, and promoting educational opportunities with current foster care providers.
