🚨🚒A thank you to our fellow 1st Responders as we dealt with a late night at one of our ports!🚓🚨

Last night at the Evanston Port of Entry a driver alerted officers that their load was leaking from the trailer. After ensuring the safety of the drivers and other trucks, Port of Entry officers worked with the Uinta County Fire & Ambulance's Haz Mat unit.🚨

Firefighters were able to contain the leak and find its source. Once everything was secured, firefighters gave the all clear at 1130pm. There were no injuries or damage through this incident. A big thank you to the firefighters of Uinta County Fire & Ambulance and the Deputy from Unita County Sheriff's Office for their quick response.

This past week two Port of Entry Officers graduated to Special Officer after a week-long course. The Officers learned which Wyoming Statutes they are allowed to enforce, how to use the Wyoming Bond schedule and how to write a proper citation.
These new Special Officers will now go back to the Evanston Port of Entry to assist the Wyoming Highway Patrol with commercial vehicle enforcement.
This is a significant achievement that reflects their hard work, dedication, and commitment to professional growth. We are excited for you and look forward to what the future brings for both of you in the WHP. From left to right Special Officers Larson and Cornia.

A big thank you to Mrs. Sackett for sharing these two pieces of port history!

A little piece of Port history-

At the end of May, Dorla Sackett stopped by the Gillette Port of Entry to donate her late husband Ken Sackett’s Department of Revenue patch and supervisor badge. Mr. Sackett served as the supervisor for Campbell, Crook, and Weston counties after previously working as a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper. It is believed these items are from the era between the 1960's to 1980's. Mr. Sackett passed away in 2005. Mrs. Sackett stated that she thought the WHP might appreciate displaying his vintage badge and patch. The Wyoming Highway Patrol sincerely thanks Mrs. Sackett for these incredible items of hers, Ken's and our own history.

Big trucks and buses have big blind spots and make wide turns. Knowing that could save your life. Safety starts with you on our road. Stay out of blind spots, never cut in front of a large truck or bus, and give them extra room to turn.

Wyoming Highway Patrol Troopers and Officers participated in the 2026 International Road Check last week. During the three day event a total of 392 inspections were conducted statewide. Inspectors completed 243 level one inspections, a total of 117 CVSA stickers were issued to vehicles with a clean inspections. However, 88 vehicles were placed out of service for violations. Inspectors also placed 27 drivers out of service for various violations. To the drivers that earned a clean inspection a very big thank you for doing your part in keeping our highways safe. Also a big thank you to our Troopers and Officers for their dedication to safety on the highways.

This past week we were happy to host FMCSA Administrator Derek D. Barrs at the Casper Port of Entry. We are proud to work with our Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration partners in keeping our highways safe.

Top 10 Thursday! Proof of periodic inspection reigns as number one. Brake Out of Adjustment - Roto, Clamp (Short & Long), DD-3, or Bolt; jumped up to second place.
Over one third of drivers inspected had clean inspections, including 153 trucks who earned a new CVSA decal on the windshield. The Wyoming Highway Patrol sends and big thank you to all the drivers that earned a clean inspection. You professionalism is a path we can all follow in keeping our highways safe.
