Radar Update, 7:00pm June 20th-

The strongest storms are currently located south of Torrington to the Colorado border. Large hail is likley with these storms, as well as strong winds.

Storms across the northern Nebraska Panhandle are producing gusting winds between 55-60mph. Lightning is becoming less frequent.

Storms/showers in Carbon County are producing gusty winds upwards of 58mph. Minimal lightning ongoing with these storms.

Severe thunderstorm ongoing west of Wheatland, just existing the Garrett area. Quarter-sized hail has been reported with this storm. Larger hail is possible as the storm maintains strength.

The severe thunderstorms across Niobrara and northern Platte counties are producing wind gusts between 65 and 75mph.

The storm in northern Laramie County is expected to continue to strengthen as it moves northeastward.

The radar from 1:55 PM show storms starting to develop north of I-80 and west of I-25. These storms are anticipated to intensify in the next few hours as they move northeast and could produce wind gusts to 70 mph and large hail.

1PM 6/20 - Saturday PM Update - Scattered to numerous severe storms are still on track for this afternoon and evening. In the PM update the slight risk has been expanded to the northwest to account for a severe winds threat. A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for all our area counties until 9 PM tonight.

All severe hazards are possible today, including very large hail, strong to damaging winds, a few tornadoes, and localized flash flooding, particularly in recent burn areas. Be ready to seek shelter if storms approach and have multiple ways to receive warnings!

9AM 6/20 - Saturday AM Update - Scattered to numerous severe storms are still on track for this afternoon and evening. Portions of the southern Nebraska panhandle have been upgraded to a Level 3 of 5 (Enhanced) risk for severe weather.

All severe hazards are possible today, including very large hail, strong to damaging winds, a few tornadoes, and localized flash flooding, particularly in recent burn areas. Be ready to seek shelter if storms approach and have multiple ways to receive warnings!

Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are likely this afternoon and continuing through this evening. There may be multiple rounds of thunderstorms, however the main concern is from activity starting about noon through sunset. Very large hail and severe wind gusts are the primary hazard anticipated with early thunderstorms. Towards sunset and into the evening the tornado threat increases, particularly across the southern Nebraska Panhandle. Speaking of moisture with precipitable water values in excess of an inch storms may be efficient rain makers and that does introduce a risk of flash flooding in the Nebraska Panhandle.

The weather Sunday and Monday are expected to be much the same with afternoon thunderstorm and shower chances east of I-25. Outside these afternoon storms, partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies with seasonable temperatures. Dry and breezy conditions for our western areas with wind gusts to 45 mph possible.

Scattered severe thunderstorms are likely Saturday afternoon and to continue through part of the night. There may be multiple rounds of thunderstorms, however the main concern is from activity starting about noon through sunset. Very large hail and severe wind gusts are the primary hazard anticipated with early thunderstorms. Towards sunset and into the evening the tornado threat increases, particularly for the southern Nebraska Panhandle area as available low level shear and moisture increases. We are anticipating severe weather on Saturday, June 20th. The environment appears favorable east and along the I-25 corridor for large to significant hail with initial storms that grow upscale towards the evening, increasing the wind threat. A conditional tornado potential may materialize with sustained discrete cells. In addition, high moisture may introduce some flash flooding risk. The SPC current Day 3 outlook has a marginal to slight risk contour outlined for this area. As the event nears we will have greater confidence in intensity and timing.
