CROW is a Political Action Committee dedicated to the cultivation of conservative principles and leadership by and through the Wyoming Republican Party (WYGOP.) This is precisely what the conservative majority in a two-party system has every right to expect from their dominant party. And yet, two longstanding problems in Wyoming politics have worked against it: 1) disunity and disorganization betw
een conservative individuals and groups and 2) substantial liberal influences within WYGOP itself. Last year a concerned Republican reported approaching a newly installed State Executive Officer of WYGOP to ask a pointed, but optimistic question: “What are you going to do about all the Republican politicians who are disloyal to the Party and its platform?” The answer was crisp: “Nothing. It’s not my responsibility; it’s yours.”
Exactly so. It is not realistic to expect top-down solutions to political problems in a constitutional republic. It is our responsibility to unify Wyoming’s conservative majority and to elect the kind of leaders who will honor conservative values and interests.
