The Korean Ambassador for Peace Medal is a commemorative award presented by the Republic of Korea to honor United Nations veterans—especially Americans—who served during the Korean War. It is not a U.S. military decoration, but an official expression of gratitude from the South Korean government.

🇰🇷 What the Medal Represents
The medal is a symbol of appreciation from the people and government of South Korea to those who fought to defend freedom on the Korean Peninsula. It originated as part of Korea’s Revisit Program, where returning veterans were honored for their service, and later expanded so that veterans who could not travel could still receive it.

🎖 Eligibility

A veteran (or their next of kin) may receive the medal if the veteran:

Served in the Korean War between June 25, 1950 and July 27, 1953, or
Participated in UN peacekeeping operations in Korea through December 1955

Additional notes:

Posthumous awards are allowed; spouses or descendants may apply.

Priority is given to living veterans.

Applicants must submit a DD‑214.

Last week, May 28, 2026, the Wyoming Veterans Commission bid farewell to their Veterans Services Program Manager Vicki Osman. After serving a total of 18 years in the commission, first as a Veterans Service Officer and and then the Veterans Services Program Manger, Vicki decided to retire. We wish Vicki good luck in her retirement and lots of fun traveling the country.
