Paws Critter Crossing

PCC is a rehabilitation facility for all local orphaned or injured wildlife. We also provide sanctuary to unreleasable wildlife and farm animals.

Dwight and Darlene Uhter started Paws Critter Crossing (PCC), located in Cook County, Illinois, in 1950 with just a handful of animals. As the years passed, they began to take in more and more animals. The Uhters eventually decided to extend their loving care to local wildlife, while they continued to provide sanctuary for farm animals as well as native and non-native wildlife that had been tamed

or unreleasable. In 1999, PCC was incorporated as a non-profit organization with a goal of rehabilitating orphaned and injured wildlife and returning them to their natural habitat. We also strive to educate the public on our animals and provide community outreach. All of our animals are given the best care possible, including veterinary care if needed. Our animals are then released when they are able to care for themselves. As a 501c3 charity, our work at PCC is solely dependent on the public. We receive no government assistance, so our funding comes from public donations. The care of our animals is also provided by our amazing volunteers. We welcome any kind of assistance. Paws Critter Crossing is preparing to launch its new facility, enabling us to persist in our mission to care for critters in need. Consequently, we will require donations of food and supplies. Illiana Roller Derby has generously pledged to donate proceeds from their season opener to support our cause. We invite you to join the event and contribute to our efforts.
