Convicted Felon Charged After Armed Encounter with Chicago Ridge Police Officers at Chicago Ridge Mall

One (1) Active Arrest Warrant for Domestic Battery

Narrative:
On May 29, 2026 at approximately 2:22pm, an officer with the Chicago Ridge Police Department observed a male black subject (offender) with a bulge on his waistband walking in the Chicago Ridge Mall. Two Chicago Ridge Police Officers approached the offender inside of a store and informed him that carrying a concealed firearm in the mall is prohibited. The officer attempted to retrieve the firearm from the offender, at which time the offender pulled the firearm from his waistband. A struggle ensued over the firearm and officers were able to safely retrieve the firearm from the offender without further incident.
The offender was placed into custody and provided a false name to the officers. The offender was also in possession of a fraudulent Illinois drivers license that contained the offenders photo, but another persons identifying information on it. The offender is also a convicted felon.
Chicago Ridge Police Detectives reviewed this case with the Cook County States Attorneys Office and the above charges were approved. It was also learned that the offender had 3 active arrest warrants from other agencies for domestic battery and (2) forgery warrants.
