Vive Tu Vida 20 year anniversary!!

This past weekend, the 25th ward office co-sponsored the annual Vive Tu Vida health fair by the Chicago Hispanic Health Coalition! In honor of Esther Escamarrila, who founded the coalition and promotoras de salud, CHHC provided free health screenings, groceries, resources and much more!

Thank you to all the organizers and volunteers, and a congratulations to CHHC on the successful 20 years of dedicated work in public health across the city!

El fin de semana pasado, la oficina del Distrito 25 copatrocinó la feria de salud anual “Vive Tu Vida”, organizada por la Chicago Hispanic Health Coalition (CHHC). En honor a Esther Escamarrila —fundadora de la coalición y pionera en el programa de promotoras de salud—, la CHHC ofreció exámenes de salud gratuitos, alimentos, recursos y mucho más.

Celebrating 30 Years of Leadership, Education, and Community
This week, Ald. Byron Sigcho-Lopez and the 25th Ward Office had the honor of attending the installation of Julio Paz as the fourth president of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School.
This moment was especially significant as Cristo Rey also celebrates 30 years of service to our community. For three decades, the school has remained committed to educating and empowering generations of students while building a lasting legacy rooted in faith, service, and opportunity.
It was a privilege to be present for this important milestone and the beginning of a new chapter in Cristo Rey’s history.
Congratulations to President Julio Paz and the entire Cristo Rey Jesuit High School community on this meaningful occasion and 30 years of service.

Esta semana, el Concejal Byron Sigcho-Lopez y la Oficina del Distrito 25 tuvieron el honor de asistir a la ceremonia de investidura de Julio Paz como el cuarto presidente de Cristo Rey Jesuit High School.
Este momento fue aún más significativo, ya que Cristo Rey también celebra 30 años de servicio a nuestra comunidad. Durante tres décadas, la escuela ha mantenido su compromiso de educar y empoderar a generaciones de estudiantes, construyendo un legado basado en la fe, el servicio y las oportunidades.
Fue un privilegio estar presentes en este importante acontecimiento y acompañar a la comunidad de Cristo Rey en el comienzo de un nuevo capítulo en su historia.

🦺New Safety vest for Ruiz Elem. Parent Mentors 🦺

Parent mentors dedicate their time to support traffic control during arrival and dismissal, field trips and organize events that support the student development and school community!

We are excited to have worked with the parents to make sure this school year they receive new gear that’ll help support their efforts all year round!

El concejal Byron Sigcho-Lopez se unió hoy al alcalde Brandon Johnson, funcionarios electos, organizaciones comunitarias y líderes laborales en apoyo a la Orden Ejecutiva de Contratación Ética de Chicago.

Los fondos públicos deben servir al bien del público. Esta orden fortalece las protecciones para los trabajadores, aumenta la responsabilidad de las empresas, apoya la contratación local y el desarrollo laboral, y ayuda a garantizar que los contratos de la Ciudad beneficien a nuestras comunidades y reflejen nuestros valores.

Protecting Workers. Expanding Opportunity. Strengthening Public Trust.

Ald. Byron Sigcho-Lopez proudly joined Mayor Brandon Johnson today, a long fellow elected officials, community organizations, and labor/organizational leaders in support of the City of Chicago’s Ethical Procurement Executive Order!

This Executive Order strengthens protections for workers and civil rights, increases accountability for companies receiving City contracts, and works to prevent taxpayer dollars from supporting businesses engaged in corruption, wage theft, workplace discrimination, or other violations of the public trust.

It also emphasizes creating meaningful employment opportunities for formerly incarcerated Chicagoans, supporting local hiring and workforce development, and recognizing companies that invest in Chicago communities.

Public dollars should serve the public good!
