General plea for Chicago-area help...

Cuddly Do Right Rescue is broke. Not the real problem, oddly, but our fundraisers aren't raising and the money we have is already designated for current cats. We are being hammered with requests for help. We just cannot help anyone new, right now, and I SWORE that I would never be the org that just says "no" - or worse, doesn't reply at all! That I would always find other avenues to point people toward.

This kitten season is going to keep trying to make me break my word! I have two 9 week old kitten sibs and a 7 month old female (already spayed) who need to get placed SOMEWHERE and funded by a rescue. ANY rescue.

Reaching out to orgs is useless - they'll mostly say no or ignore - but if we can find fosters to match with these cats and apply to foster with those other orgs, there's a chance someone will take them on. And, really, all that matters is that the cats get a chance at adoption.

If you know ANYONE, or have ANY ideas, please LMK.

So that I don't just sit here, feeling worse by the second, I'm working through connections to try to find people who would adopt... but can't afford to. It's like knocking on a wall, hoping it will open, but it beats doing nothing while the flood rages on. 😐

Luna is trying to make herself small. This is her reaction to what must feel like a very confusing time - recovering in a crate when she's used to living outdoors. Do you know what it's like when you meet another dog named Peanut and your humans both stand there, talking about Peanut, Peanut, Peanut... and you and the other Peanut are never sure which one of you they're talking about? NO?! Well... MY humom is learning!

Cuddly Do Right Rescue saw CUDDLY from across the internet and HAD to go sniff their bu... um, look around! Now they're animal-helping buddies. Cool, right? A little confusing but, thankfully, I just go to work in the living room.

Awwww... my humom is just killing me with old videos today. This one is not incredibly exciting, just FYI, and you can almost feel how sad we both were, even with the humom encouraging a last romp. (And you can see how goofy Dot and Mello felt about our coming separation! Silly girls, they had no idea.... )

It's 2.5 minutes of the last hours I got to spend with my Pinky baby. He came to me as a 6 day old white ball of fur with a gray streak of mischief emblazoned on his head and he left me as a 12 week old brave young cat with the gift of soft paws and weird napping-place preferences. I wish I knew where he was... but he's always in my heart.

I still check the Sprite cases, though. Just in case.

Every now and then, the human feeds me like you'd feed a bunch of chickens. She tosses a handful of kibble onto the floor, when the kittens are in the room.

The kittens chase and bat the bits around on the floor like they're toys! Me, I scarf those little bits right up!

This helps teach the kittens that I would never hurt them - not even for food. Sometimes, they'll even give me a tiny whack on the nose, to show me who's boss. I let them do it because I think it's good for them to learn soft paws. We NEVER hurt each other. Plus it's a grand game cuz I GET ALL THE FOOD!

Well, ain't we fancy now? We got a bathroom attendant. My person says that's fancy. All *I* know is the little meanie won't let me drink from the big bowl. NOT COOL! 😤😠

This is my baby, Peep. I've known him since he was just ONE DAY OLD! He'll be 6 months in November. He's having a tough day, today.

He came here with his real mother, Ava, and 3 slightly older kittens that Ava adopted. After their surgeries, Ava rejected them all because they smelled different. Even her bio-kitty, Peep. 💔😭

Today, after a couple months of trying, he got so very close to his mommy. So close! They touched noses and then groomed themselves within inches of each other. Then Ava told him to go away.

I think Ava isn't being mean. She wants Peep to be ready for her to be adopted and gone one day, so I tell him it's ok and I will always love him. I hope Ava gets a family soon. She doesn't like dogs. But I love her for giving Peep to us.

Tonight, Hermione is chilling with me, keeping my belly warm. The human is trying to recruit kitten fosters, which is disturbing our nap. If you can foster kittens, please tell her so she'll be quiet. Cuddly Do Right NFP She's not responding to the clicker. 😠

But paw-leeeeze don't tell her that I'm trying to hush her up. They've named a program after me and I don't want to lose that before it even goes public!

My name is Peanut. I'm a volunteer with Cuddly Do Right NFP. I help kittens become comfortable with dogs, to increase their chances of adoption. I'm very good at my job. I'm so good at it that my human is trying to make a thing.

I love my human but let's be realistic - you don't have enough legs to be a me. You can, however, help me help the animals!

My current profile pic is of me with my very first best buddy, Frankie. Frankie was found in a garbage can, with 5 other kittens that he wasn't even related to! Who does that to kittens?! And how did such a nefarious human get kittens from two litters in the first place?!? 😡😭😿

Thanks to me, the whole bunch were adopted. I only know where Frankie and Bowie (nn Turtle) ended up... but I have to believe that my other babies have good humans and lots of love.

I'll tell you all about them and everyone else who passes through my paws and shares my water bowl, if you stick around.
