Printer's Row Lit Fest was founded in 1985 by the Near South Planning Board to attract visitors to the Printers Row neighborhood (once the city’s bookmaking hub). By 2002, it had grown to five city blocks (on Dearborn, from Congress to Polk), attracting more than 200 booksellers from across the country displaying new, used and antiquarian books, and featuring seven stages with more than 100 free literary programs. In collaboration with the Chicago Parks Foundation, Near South Planning Board, and an active group of stakeholders and community members, this vision outlines the potential future enhancement of the southwest corner of Grant Park and Magdalena Abakanowicz‘s Agora Sculpture through a four-season, multi-purpose outdoor space that creates a diverse park experience for all, draws on Grant Park's historic "outdoor rooms," retains open gathering areas, and enhances the park through naturalistic and ornamental plantings.

Halsted St., Riverdale, IL 60827, in cooperation with the office of Cook County Commissioner and President Pro Tempore Deborah Sims (D-Chicago), Cook County Social Innovation Commission, office of Cook County Commissioner Alma Anaya (D-Chicago), the Cook County Board of Commissioners Business and Economic Development Committee, A Chiquita Maquinita, Chicago Urban Fine Arts Commonwealth and the Cook County Forest Preserve District present a Pageant of Cook County History, featuring the following re-enactments; *Jean Baptist Point du Sable working his full-scale farm near the Chicago River while hisst indigenous wife Catherine serves a trader passing through.; *Abolitionist and womanist Mary Jones, wife of John Jones, the very first black Cook County commissioner and chair of the Vigilance Committee that ran slave catchers out of Cook County, making to the unprecedented move of acting as hostess to feminist Susan B. Event shall be shot by Torrance Smith of Bird's Eye View Productions, producer of the "Eye On Chi" news magazine video content program, with initial interest in the edited work by WTTW-TV and the Illinois Archives on behalf of the Gwendolyn Brooks Illinois State Library.
