Congratulations to Belmont Craigin community member Diana Mireles on receiving the Unsung Heroine Award. Well deserved! The 3rd District is lucky to have you!
Congratulations to our board member, Diana Mireles, on being awarded the Peggy Montes Unsung Heroine Award presented by the Cook County Government Board of Commissioners, to tell the story of the powerful— and seldom recognized— impact women have had throughout history on their communities.
Diana has been an active leader in our community’s efforts around placemaking, safety, Census outreach, education, block club, parks, housing organizing— you name it, and Diana has been there advocating, as she says, “for the needs of Belmont Cragin families today, not some future outsiders who might replace us.” Congratulations on this hard-earned honor!
From yesterday: I was lucky to share the afternoon with this dedicated group of volunteers from the Northwest Side Housing Center to provide food to people in the community.
So lucky to be a part of this amazing group of women!
Happy Women's History Month from the Illinois House Democratic Women's Caucus!
