In early September, K9 Ella and her partner were called in to assist the Elmhurst Police Department to help find a Missing/Endangered juvenile who had walked away from his family at a park and had been missing for about 5 hours. After K9 Ella sniffed the juvenile’s baseball cap, she and her partner covered more than a mile in distance to find the juvenile, who was located safely at just after midnight.

Services were offered to the juvenile and their family, and many snuggles and rubs were offered to our K9 Ella for a job well done.

Great News: Our adorable Dusty was adopted!

Dusty, who came to us from Waggin' Tails Animal Shelter/Cicero Animal Control, secured her American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizenship (CGC) Certification through one of our evaluators. Cicero Waggin’ Tails Animal Shelter has been instrumental and incredibly supportive of these projects, including allowing us to utilize their space to conduct our evaluations for training, which helps ensure the greatest likelihood of success. Dusty also passed Brevard County Sheriff Paws and Stripes Therapy K9 Certification, which is also recognized by the American Kennel Club. We are so proud of our Tails of Redemption dog, Dusty.

K9 Samantha and her handler were called in to help search for a missing juvenile in Bridgeview. The missing juvenile had become upset and fled on foot from their home. After being given the scent of the juvenile from articles of clothing, K9 Samantha began to trail the child from their home through a commercial business area to a park nearly two miles away where our officers found the juvenile hiding in some trees. The juvenile was reunited with their family and was offered services and resources.

Good work, Samantha! ❤️

When we evaluated Dusty, we knew she’d make a great therapy dog. Although she had been a stray, she had all of the traits and characteristics that let us know she loved people and during our training period with her, it was confirmed. What a great outcome for this pup! Way to go, Dusty!

A couple weeks ago, PAWS visited our office with Margot, and our officers and staff loved getting some “dog therapy time” with her. This visit by PAWS informed our employees about the ways in which they can volunteer at PAWS.
If you are interested in volunteering with PAWS, please check out pawschicago.org/volunteer. If you have any questions, email them at [email protected]. There are a variety of different opportunities to volunteer and, in return, they promise that you will get all the whisker kisses and tail wags you can handle! As you can see, Margot did a great job providing our staff with some kisses and comfort last week!

Great News: Kingsley was adopted! Kingsley came to us from South Suburban Humane Society. Kingsley is very smart and worked hard with his training staff. Both Kingsley and his handlers were motivated and committed to always being better than the day before. Kingsley’s trainer and new owner were able to meet and discuss Kingsley’s demeanor and traits before he left for his forever home.
We are excited to welcome the newest family to the Tails of Redemption Family. We wish them the best of luck and look forward to regular updates.

Last month, one of our canine teams was requested to assist the Countryside Police Department with a search located on South La Grange Road in Countryside following a vehicle that fled from police before becoming involved in a car accident; the occupants of the vehicle then fled. Two suspects were placed into custody shortly after while additional suspects remained at large.

In an attempt to locate the additional suspects, K9 AJ and his officer began their search at the rear driver’s side of the vehicle (taking scent of the suspects from the rear driver’s side seat). Upon presentation of the scent, K9 AJ immediately started to trail to an open field behind a strip mall where he then changed directions and entered a pathway leading into a wooded area east from the backyard of a residence. The three male suspects were located there. All three individuals were placed into custody by responding police personnel without incident.

We’re grateful to K9 AJ and his officer for their hard work; the NOSE knows!

Our dog, Bear, is still in need of finding his forever home. Bear is estimated to be a little over a year old and is a Rottweiler mix who comes to us from Waggin' Tails Animal Shelter/Cicero Animal Control. Bear is super sweet and smart. He is potty trained and knows all his commands, including Sit, Stay, Down and Heel. Bear has a lot of energy and would do best in a house without children or other animals. If you are interested in adopting our darling Bear, please email: [email protected].

Look at our pups getting scrubbed in the tub! A wonderful bonus to our new location is that during warmer months, we can give our dogs baths outside. This means our individuals in custody can help with this process, which is a great learning experience!

Our goal for this winter is to get the facility set up for indoor use. If you are interested in making any donation to our Tails of Redemption program, please check out our Amazon Wishlist here: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/G8YX8S097J1L?ref_=wl_share

She is approximately 4.5 years old and is an Australian Cattle dog who comes to us from the South Suburban Humane Society . This little lady was a transfer from Texas and has been in the shelter since 2020. Polly is an absolute doll, and is very gentle, timid, and shy. Great News! Livi is now available for adoption. Livi comes to us from and she is the sweetest girl. If it weren’t for the scars all over her body, you would never know the pain she has endured throughout her short life. Livi is approximately 2 years of age and has likely been a mom more than once. She is so kind and affectionate and we are excited to give her the life she deserves. She is fully housebroken, and loves treats, and cuddling. She is also friendly with other dogs and would do great in most households.
If you are interested in adopting Livi, Please email [email protected]

Great News: Jazzy, formally known as Dotty, was officially adopted! Jazzy had been at the Cicero Waggin’ Tails Animal Shelter for over 6 months. Our Tails of Redemption program was truly her last chance at “redemption.” In just over a week with us, Jazzy learned to sit, stay, heel, down, roll-over, crawl, paw, and leave it.

We wish Jazzy and her new mom, Tara, the very best in this wonderful new chapter of life. (We’ve already learned from Tara that Jazzy has gained weight and is doing great!)

A little laughter to lighten up our day
what is the costt and do you have mid size dogs also?
This is a magnificent program...and I couldn't be more grateful for the generous acts of diligence and kindness of these gentlemen. I'd enroll my Pika in for obedience training with them. God bless these men, their families and their futures.
