Today marks a major milestone. Seeing the students I trained ride alongside me and gain hands-on experience with my department is truly rewarding. This is what public safety workforce development is all about—training, mentoring, and creating real career pathways for the next generation. 🚑🚒🚓

We are in our second week of Public Safety Camp, and we absolutely crushed Law Enforcement Day! The students had an amazing hands-on experience learning about careers in public safety. Stay tuned—the video is coming later! 🚓🚨💙

“Tonight, I took a ride down State Street. In my mind, I kept hearing the radio call: ‘Englewood to FACT Team 1.’

I stopped at 2901 S. Federal Street—the building where our FACT Team station was located. I had not walked up to that building in 25 years. As I approached the door, I reached out to touch it and became overwhelmed with emotion. I started crying because so many memories came back at once—the calls, the people we helped and the team members who served beside me.

In that moment, I understood that Chicago must hear the untold history of the First Aid Care Team. There are not many of us left to tell the story. Today, the only known monument honoring the FACT Team is located inside the Rescue 8 firehouse.

We are not just displaying history at Rescue 8. Through our own FACT Team, we are keeping the mission alive.”
