A new MMWR report detailing a Chicago Department of Public Health investigation found that COVID-19 vaccination helped protect people from getting COVID-19 and may reduce severity of illness. Among persons with COVID-19 infection after full vaccination, the majority had no symptoms or mild illness. No disease spread from these cases was observed. Following COVID-19 infection prevention and control practices and encouraging high vaccination coverage is important in high-risk congregate settings. Thank you to our local CDC partners.
