BREAKING NEWS: We have a match for donations made in the next 24 hours!
https://give.nourishinghopechi.org/give/536373/ #!/donation/checkout?c_src=email&c_src2=eoy23_3

When people turn to Nourishing Hope for help, their needs often extend beyond food. Here’s a glimpse of the work you’re supporting: In 2023, we provided more than 4,000 total social services, including more than 1,200 housing services to connect people to their new homes. We also helped connect people to meaningful job opportunities.

But we urgently need your help. Homelessness in Chicago is on the rise, while temperatures are dropping. And when you give today, your donation will go twice as far! Thanks to the generosity of the Labkon family all donations made in the next 24 hours will be doubled up to $25,000.

Will you support Nourishing Hope to make sure Chicago’s most vulnerable community members have access to vital social services?

Warning: Extreme cuteness alert. The vibe was indeed merry and bright at our Sheridan Market recently on the final day of the Nourishing Hope Toy Drive. This year, the annual event provided toys and delight to more than 550 kids — and relief to their parents faced with mounting bills and other hardships.

Thank you to all who donated and volunteered to make it happen! The kids were really happy! Don’t take our word for it — just look at the photos!

Around Christmas time, Cristian Ante used to string lights on a tree outside his apartment in Ecuador. This year, there’s only one thing he’s hoping to accomplish. “With God’s blessing, I’ll find work and be able to provide for our daughters,” Cristian told us recently, as he and his family received food at our El Mercadito food pantry in Humboldt Park.

He and his family traveled thousands of miles from their native country of Ecuador — through the treacherous Darién Gap — to escape the growing violence there. Like so many Chicagoans past and present, they came to this city in hope of a better life. They arrived with just the clothes on their backs.

When you support Nourishing Hope, you’re providing food and hope to thousands of Chicagoans, including those who are new to our city. Read more about Cristian’s story on our blog: https://www.nourishinghopechi.org/this-christmas-a-family-makes-new-home-after-perilous-journey/

Thank you to Mayor Brandon Johnson, Chicago Mayor's Office, for stopping by our Sheridan Market today!

We’re grateful for the opportunity to share more about our work at Nourishing Hope, which includes multiple food programs, mental health counseling and other social services. Mayor Johnson also stepped in to serve a couple of our neighbors in need, much to their delight.

We appreciate the time and support of the mayor and other elected officials working to solve complex challenges. Truly, we are all in this together.

And of course – thank you, as always, to our incredible staff. Pictured here: Kellie O'Connell, Gregory Trotter, Jennie Filicky Hull and Keenya Brown Lambert.

Friends, we are SO CLOSE to our goal! You can help us finish strong.

Please make a donation to support our work of providing food and hope to our Chicago neighbors in need.

This , I'm supporting Nourishing Hope (formerly Lakeview Pantry). Thanks to a matching gift, my donation just went twice as far! Can I count on you to help provide more food, counseling, and support for our Chicago neighbors? give.nourishinghopechi.org/GivingTuesday

We’re proud to serve our Chicago neighbors in need — including those new to our beautiful city — but we need your support.

Our friend Volodymyr and his family didn’t plan to move to Chicago. They had lived in Ukraine for all of their lives. But in March 2022, they woke in the middle of the night to the sound of nearby explosions. The Russian military had invaded their homeland.

After receiving food assistance from Nourishing Hope, Volodymyr wanted to give back. He started volunteering at El Mercadito, our food pantry in Humboldt Park. And in August, Volodymyr was hired as Nourishing Hope staff.

“With Nourishing Hope, the work is serving people, providing them with essential resources for life,” he said.

That’s what your support makes possible.

This is our last call to action before the end of . Plus, Grubhub Community Fund is matching all donations, up to $25,000!

Please make a donation today to support Nourishing Hope’s vision of providing food for today and hope for tomorrow.

11/28/2023

This just in — we just received a midday match! All donations in the next five hours will be DOUBLED, thanks to the Grubhub Community Fund.

https://give.nourishinghopechi.org/campaign/giving-tuesday-2023/c531529?c_src=email&c_src2=givingtuesdaymatch

We hope this generous matching opportunity from Grubhub will inspire you to give. Thanks to the multiplying power of this match, every $1 you donate will help provide the equivalent of six meals.

Your past support has made a significant impact, and with this surprise match, your contribution can go even further. Will you renew your gift and take advantage of this opportunity to double your impact?

Thank you for being a crucial part of our mission to nourish hope. Let's make this our most meaningful yet!

We need your help today on Giving Tuesday.

Nourishing Hope is seeing a historic rise in the number of families with children turning to us for assistance. Currently, we’re serving more than double the number of families with kids from just two years ago.

When Maritza and her young children arrived in Chicago last fall, they had nothing more than the clothes on their backs. They left their life in Mexico because of rising crime and instability. Tragically, Maritza’s husband also died of COVID in Mexico.

In partnership with SGA Youth & Family Services, Nourishing Hope has been able to consistently provide monthly groceries for Maritza and her family. Her children have enough food to eat — thanks to donors like you.

“What gives me hope is my children,” Maritza said. “We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

Watch our powerful 2-minute video about Maritza’s story.

Please make a donation today to support our ability to provide food and social services to families like Maritza’s. Thanks to you, we can help children dream of a brighter future.

Today is Giving Tuesday! When you give to Nourishing Hope, you’re directly supporting our work of providing food, social services and mental health counseling to our Chicago neighbors.

https://give.nourishinghopechi.org/campaign/giving-tuesday-2023/c531529?c_src=email&c_src2=givingtuesday1

Consider Roxana’s story, for example. A trained chef, Roxana was out of work for a year and a half and experiencing depression. One of our case managers worked closely with her in our career empowerment program.

Fast forward to today, and Roxana is now working her dream job, teaching Chicago Public Schools students and their families how to cook nutritious meals.

“Those kids have brought me back to life,” Roxana said. “I feel I am in the best moment of my life at 61 years of age.”

Check out this powerful short 2-minute video to learn more about Roxana’s story.

Today, your donation isn't just a gift; it's a promise of a brighter tomorrow.

Thank you to all elected officials, both past and present, who volunteered with us this week!

Shoutout to U.S. Rep. Mike Quigley, former Mayor Lori Lightfoot and her wife Amy Eshleman, and State Sen. Sara Feigenholtz for spending their time serving our Chicago neighbors in need.

We’re so grateful for your support as we continue to serve a heightened need in the community.

This Thanksgiving, we’re grateful for this remarkable community that continues to rise to the moment. And this moment calls all of us to help our neighbors in need.

So far this fiscal year, which began April 1, Nourishing Hope has served more than 25% more people compared to this same time last year.

It’s only possible with the hard work and compassion of our staff and volunteers. It couldn’t happen without the heart and generosity of our donors and institutional partners.

Thank you for stepping up and doing your part. Because of you, children are going to bed with full bellies. Elders are getting the nourishment they need. People are having mental health breakthroughs. Families are getting the support they need to make positive life changes.

That’s what we do. That’s Nourishing Hope.

We’re also grateful for the people courageous enough to turn to us for assistance. It can be hard to ask for help, though all need support from time to time. There should never be any stigma to receiving assistance in order to eventually thrive.

However you’re spending this day, may you also feel thankful for this Nourishing Hope community. Together, we’re providing food and hope.

P.S. This holiday season, consider making a donation to our annual Turkey Fund to help ensure all Chicagoans can gather for a meal with loved ones. https://nourishinghopechi.org/turkeyfund

We are deeply honored and humbled to share that Nourishing Hope is the winner of the first-ever $1 million Northern Trust Anchor Award. The transformative investment — the largest grant award in our 53-year history — will serve as a catalyst for growth to serve more young people on Chicago’s South and West Sides.

The one-time award effectively supercharges Nourishing Hope’s plans to grow online market partnerships with trusted organizations in communities that have long endured racial inequities.

Nourishing Hope’s innovative online market was launched in 2019 in proud partnership with the Thierer Family Foundation. With the help of the Anchor Award, Nourishing Hope will add more than 20 online market partners over the next three years.

From our CEO Kellie O’Connell: “This award is a true testament to the hard work of our staff, volunteers and partners. We’re so proud of our Nourishing Hope community and grateful to Northern Trust for this incredible support of our work and impact.”
