On November 16, HANA held its November Membership Meeting, an open and welcoming space for members to share post-election thoughts and reflect on how we can come together to build community power in these uncertain times.

Members participated in small group discussions, shared delicious potluck dishes with one another, and enjoyed being in community ahead of the Thanksgiving season. Thank you for being part of this healing, hopeful gathering. 💖🤝

The HANA Center's high school youth programming is offering an open opportunity for conducting Youth Participatory Research (YPAR). We plan on conducting surveys and/or interviews and concluding the project with a written report.

In the Summer 2024 session of youth programming, Youth Fellow Angelynn co-instructed a YPAR Institute, where youth learned how to make a YPAR research proposal.

One group of high school youth is bringing their proposal from the summer to life asking the question:

"How do high school CPS Selective and Non-Selective Students Experience School Differently?"

This week, HANA co-hosted the Together We Heal North Side Community Tour with the City of Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events. 🌆🌟

Artist & Project Lead, Aram Han Sifuentes (), discussed how HANA's Nonggi (Korean traditional folk banners) making workshops for multi-generational, multi-ethnic immigrant communities in Chicago use storytelling and hands-on creation to achieve immigrant and racial justice.

Many thanks to 33rd Ward Alderwoman Rossana Rodríguez for joining us and enriching this inspiring dialogue about activating shared spaces, beautifying communities, and celebrating local cultural richness!

Did you know? HANA's new voter survey showed that over 80% of Asian American voters in Illinois are ready to participate in the 2024 election!

Conducted in partnership with the U.S. Immigration Policy Center at the University of California San Diego, this study surveyed 965 Asian American voters, including 395 Korean Americans, to gain deeper insights into issues impacting our community.

The DACA program continues to face challenges in the court! It's crucial to stay up-to-date and know the following information as the judicial process unfolds: renewals are still being processed, Advance Parole remains open, first-time DACA applications are accepted but not processed.

Tomorrow, the anti-immigrant forces who’ve spent over a decade targeting DACA recipients and DACA-eligible youth and tearing at the fabric of immigrant communities will spend the day arguing for family separation at the 5th Circuit Court in New Orleans. While we take action to demand the Court reject these bad faith, political efforts, we also know that the Biden Administration, Congress, and even our state and local elected officials do not have to wait for a potentially catastrophic decision in the Court in order to deliver urgent protections.
