Overview
The wheeled vehicle mechanic is primarily responsible for supervising and performing maintenance and recovery operations on wheeled vehicles and associated items, as well as heavy-wheeled vehicles and select armored vehicles.

Job Duties
Maintain wheeled vehicles, their associated trailers and material handling equipment systems
Inspecting, servicing, maintaining, repairing, replacement, adjusting and testing of wheeled vehicles and material handling equipment systems, subsystems and components
Service automotive electrical systems including wiring harness, and starting and charging systems
Perform wheeled vehicle recovery operations

Requirements
Those who want to serve must first take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, a series of tests that helps you better understand your strengths and identify which Army jobs are best for you.

Training

OVERVIEW
As a Cargo Specialist, you'll be the cargo handling expert for everything the Army moves by land, sea, or air. You’ll ensure the Army receives supplies, weapons, the mail, and equipment on a daily basis all over the world. You will be trained in cargo documentation, the securing of cargo, and learn how to load and unload cargo manually or by operating material handling equipment like cranes and forklifts.

As a Plumber in the Army/Army Reserves, you will build the skills you need for a rewarding civilian career while installing and maintaining pipe systems in the Army.

Like a civilian plumber, you will work on pipe systems for water, steam, and waste, as well as hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Duties include reading drawings, plans, and specifications; planning the layout of pipe systems; and installing and maintaining pipe systems and plumbing fixtures. This will require the ability to work with pipe of various materials and different pipe connection methods.

Plus, you'll be building a better future. The skills you learn as a Plumber in the Army/Army Reserves will prepare you for a civilian career in commercial and residential contracting. With additional certifications, you could work for public utility companies, plumbing contractors, or as a self-employed contractor.

Earn while you learn

Get paid to learn! Join the Army/Army Reserves and you will learn valuable job skills while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance.

After 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you will learn fundamental Soldiering skills, you will attend approximately 7 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) where you'll learn what you need to get started as an Army/Army Reserves Plumber.

As your skills increase, so will your responsibilities. Advanced Plumbing Specialists take on more challenging projects, including training and supervising other Soldiers, and performing inspections of plumbing facilities.

Requires military enlistment. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications. Actual MOS assignment may depend on MOS availability. Benefits subject to change.

Water treatment specialists are primarily responsible for supervising or performing the installation and operation of water purification equipment, as well as dealing with water storage and distribution operations and activities. They also inspect facilities and food supplies for the presence of disease, germs or other conditions hazardous to health and the environment.

• Assist in water reconnaissance and site preparation
• Operate and maintain water treatment equipment
• Assist in setup of water treatment activity

As an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Specialist, you’ll be the Army’s preeminent tactical and technical explosives expert. You’ll research and identify military weapons, assist leadership in the preparation and use of advanced robotics, dispose of hazardous objects, and perform missions in support of Army units worldwide, across all environmental conditions.

Horizontal construction engineers use bulldozers, cranes, graders and other heavy equipment to move tons of earth and material to complete construction projects for the Army.

They are also responsible for operating tractors with dozer attachments, scoop loaders, backhoe loaders, hydraulic excavators, motorized graders and scrapers.

Job Duties
Analyze the information on grade stakes and placing them
Drive bulldozers, roadgraders and other heavy equipment to level earth
Clear, grub, strip, excavate, backfill, stockpile and push scraper with tractor crawler
Cut and spread fill material with scraper
Transport heavy construction equipment with tractor-trailer
Assist in performance of combat engineer missions
