2 Chicago Korean-American groups merge to become Hana Center

The new group combines the former Korean American Community Services, the area's oldest and largest Korean-American social service agency, and the Korean American Resource and Cultural Center, an advocacy organization. The new Hana Center, with "hana" meaning "one," will be housed in the former KACS building in Albany Park.

Two Chicago Korean-American groups are merging in response to what they view as anti-immigrant policies from the White House.

Support Korean American Community Services in #ILGive!

Join the Movement and Give Back to Our Community!

As the holiday season approaches, there are many things to be thankful for. At KACS, we are grateful for our many generous supporters, who enable us to provide comprehensive social services to the Chicagoland immigrant community.

November 29th, 2016 is a worldwide day of social philanthropy called #GivingTuesday, locally called #ILGIVE. KACS will be participating in this movement and is extremely lucky to have a $5,000 matching grant from The Retirement Research Foundation. This means that all donations to KACS will be doubled, up to $5,000. So, if we reach our $5,000 fundraising goal, we will earn a total of $10,000. We are also excited to share that our local Comcast Cable office has generously donated $2,000 to kickoff our fundraising efforts.

KACS is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.

You can also use Paypal for your donation!

All donations from now until December 2nd, 2016 will count towards the matching grant. We encourage you to give on the 29th, as your donation will not incur a platform fee, but feel free to donate as soon as possible or just after waking from your Thanksgiving feast slumber. Lastly, feel free to share our page on your social networks; there is a share button the page.

Thank you, and Happy Holidays!

KACS's 44th Annual Gala: Be The Change

The Illinois budget impasse has had a significant effect on KACS. Funding that has supported essential services to immigrant communities have been completely cut or drastically reduced. These cuts are affecting the most vulnerable members of the community such as seniors, limited English speakers, the undocumented and the homeless. KACS's capacity has been reduced and many staff positions have been frozen.

The organization has taken measures to ensure future stability. Fundraising and donor support are all the more essential when government support is limited and community needs are high.
