For renewables, the long-term forecast will always be sunny, but right now a few clouds appear to have rolled in.

Loss of investor confidence has shaken the stocks for renewable energy companies; this is especially apparent with yieldcos, a type of financing vehicle for the industry.

Press Release — Urban Mobility Information

Does this sound like your daily commute?

Texas A&M University is out with a new study today that says: "travel delays due to traffic congestion caused drivers to waste more than 3 billion gallons of fuel and kept travelers stuck in their cars for nearly 7 billion extra hours – 42 hours per rush-hour commuter [per year]."

Would this be a good time point out that smarter investment in public mass-transit #infrastructure might help relieve the problem?

The real reason American public transportation is such a disaster

It's easy to assume that America's public transit infrastructure is as bad as it is in many cities because of a lack of $$$. But as this excellent article in Vox points out:

"American buses, subways, and light rail lines consistently have lower ridership levels, fewer service hours, and longer waits between trains than those in virtually every comparably wealthy European and Asian country. At the same time, a much greater percentage of US public transit costs are subsidized by public tax dollars."

So if you and I are paying so much for it, then why does U.S. mass transit service so often suck? The article explains some of the political and social headwinds blowing against trains, streetcars and buses.

Canada has twice as much transit as the US. Why?
