Ravenswood Community Services

Ravenswood Community Services Ravenswood Community Services (RCS) is a food pantry and community kitchen serving our neighbors in need. RCS runs several outreach programs meeting the needs of those in the Ravenswood neighborhood and its surrounding communities.

Every Tuesday night, between 250 and 350 neighbors come to our Food Pantry seeking a bag of groceries. We provide a nutritionally balanced grocery bag to each person, which includes fresh milk, bread and meat. We also offer a “no-kitchen” option with easy-to-fix items and pop-top lids for our neighbors who primarily live on the streets. We run our Community Kitchen simultaneously, providing a family-style meal for more than 120 neighbors each week. Teams of dedicated volunteers prepare and serve a hot entrée, vegetable, bread and often dessert. Once a month, we partner with the Greater Chicago Food Depository and Ravenswood Elementary School to bring a nutritious mix of groceries to neighborhood families in need of food assistance at our mobile Market Pantry. In a farmers market-like atmosphere, volunteers distribute fresh produce, meat, dairy items and shelf-staple food the second Saturday of every month ... in rain, shine or freezing temps! Several times a year, our dining hall is transformed into a four-star restaurant called the All Saints’ Café. At our Café, our neighbors enjoy choosing a gourmet multi-course meal from a specially prepared menu. They are also attended to by a wait staff and surrounded by music and entertainment. We partner with Ravenswood School in hopes of ensuring a powerful future for young people in our neighborhood. We produce the “Reality Fair,” a three-dimensional manifestation of the popular board game Life. This virtual game teaches 8th graders practical life skills, and helps students consider their futures. For more information on how to volunteer with us, or to make a tax-deductible donation to help provide hunger relief in our neighborhood, visit our website at www.ravenswoodcommunityservices.org or email [email protected].

Mission: RCS provides hunger and poverty relief, health services, and life skills education in the Ravenswood and Uptown neighborhoods. In 1993, we began handing out bags of groceries to about 20 neighbors through the front doors of All Saints' Chicago. Today, this vibrant non-profit serves hundreds of hungry neighbors each week and implements strategic neighborhood change through our feeding programs and through our partnership with Ravenswood School. RCS is an agency of Episcopal Charities and Community Services (ECCS), and a partner with the Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD).

Neighbors helping neighbors

Remember how much fun we had at last year’s Spirits of Ravenswood? Yeah. Sadly, we can’t do that this year. But we still need your help feeding people.

Though our evening of local craft beverages, dancing, tarot card reading, prize wheel spinning, VR shenanigans, and delicious food cannot be, we’re hoping you’ll consider donating the money you would have spent on tickets and fancy outfits in support of the food pantry.

You’ll have our endless gratitude, AND between now and the end of September, we’ll mail you a special “Spirits” thank you gift in response to donations of $250 and up.

Thank you!

Lori and Parker

RCS provided over 220 to-go bags of groceries last night and served 175 to-go meals. We had fresh radishes and salad greens to hand out from the All Saints' Episcopal Church garden, and the cooking team made Mediterranean chicken and veggies bowls with a roasted garlic and lemon vinaigrette and cut up some absolutely gorgeous fudge for dessert!

Look for the helpers ✨. We want to shine a spotlight on our neighbors at Ravenswood Community Services for providing much needed groceries and food to those in need during these difficult times. We were able to donate 2,000 food trays and lids to the center to be used to pack meals and feed our community. Thank you for everything you do!
.
We encourage those who are able, to donate and help their neighbors around them. If you would like more information on the Ravenswood Community Services and their food pantry, visit their website: https://www.ravenswoodcommunityservices.org/
