Here’s a video from our off site session building girls confidence, teaching them self defense.
We’re looking for Master’s-level students, studying subjects relating to counseling, psychology, teaching or social work, who would be interested in training to become a group mentor of our Ready Set Girls Academy program in Chicago, Elgin and Rolling Meadows.
This is an extremely rewarding volunteer role, where you will be working in a supportive environment alongside other group mentors, teaching teen girls essential life skills and getting some unique work experience.

On behalf of everybody here at In Her Shoes Foundation, we wish you a wonderful holiday full of celebration and freedom. While many American citizens associate the right to vote as the staple of independence, this was not always a privilege enjoyed by all.
Less than a century ago, women did not have the simplest freedom - the right to vote. Thanks to the strong, persistent women who came before us, we now have this right, as well as so many more freedoms. There are still several countries around the world where it is difficult, or illegal, for women to vote. Although this sad reality weighs down our hearts, it is important to remain positive and to lift each other's spirits - just as the women before us did. We still have a long way to go, but together, we can - and will - continue to build the future we want - one rooted in equality, self-empowerment, and freedom.
Join us in taking a moment today to pay tribute to the fierce and passionate women who have marched for protection of their rights, demanded equal pay, and insisted upon fair and decent treatment in the workplace and beyond. And to the volunteers of IHSF who are dedicated to empowering and inspiring women and girls to be their personal best - we salute you! Through your commitment to delivering programs such as Ready Set Girls Academy and Women's Professional Development Workshops, we are making a true impact on the lives of women and girls throughout the Chicago community.
