🚨 To demonstrate honor and respect for many of the state’s bravest and most selfless public servants, Oct. 28, 2021 will be recognized as First Responders Day in Illinois.

📆 Although law enforcement officers, firefighters and emergency medical personnel deserve our community’s respect throughout the year, designating a day statewide is important to recognize their efforts and contributions to protecting Illinois families.

To say that tonight's discussion was lively is an understatement.
Too bad Local #2's President Jim Tracy puts his personal feelings and prejudices ahead of what's best for his members. Tracy was invited by the FOP to fight against City Hall as a unified front, but he REFUSED because he doesn't like the FOP President. Tracy doesn't like the FOP but has no problem being Madigans lackey, to screw over the police. I guess My Brother's Keeper only applies if that person can do something for you politically. Tracy is dividing the City's First Responders, for Lightfoots gain. I hope whatever Lori and Madigan promised him is worth it. https://youtu.be/mzJpy05LtGs
This is what happens when all the money goes to surveillance and more enforcement, as the corrupt greed and stupidity continues, and there is little left for fire prevention and Helicopters to stop fires etc...??? The corrupt can watch it burn from. 10,000 directions, but it can't be put out...???"SUPPORT YOUR FIREFIGHTERS"...!!! Hi, Design Science is seeking feedback on a medical device and looking to hear from EMS personnel who have HAZMAT training. I am reaching out to see if you or any of your colleagues are currently working as an EMS Hazmat Level 2 (or equivalent) and currently trained/certified on Level A HazMat PPE. We are offering a higher referral than typical for any colleagues that you refer to participate in this study. For every new person (never worked with us before) that you refer who participates in this study, you will receive $25. Sessions are one-on-one and in-person in our Philly and greater Chicago offices. The session will last 2-hours and participants will receive $300 for their time. Dates and locations available are: • Philadelphia, PA (123 S Broad St): September 27-October 1 • Evanston, IL (909 Davis St): September 21-23 Please note that, although you will be interacting with a medical product, you will NOT administer any medication to yourself or another person. You will only simulate its use. If you have any colleagues interested in participating, please have them sign up here (https://dscience.com/signup/) for more information. Under "what study are you interested in," please note: "HAZMAT." There is a section to fill out who referred them as well.

I was watching Chicago Fire last night and saw the different colors of the LT rank on the hats. Whats the significance between the Red, Blue and Black LT background on the dress uniform hats?

FIREFIGHTER'S BOOK RECOMMENDATION: 1871: Rivers on Fire “Paul Buchheit's 1871: Rivers on Fire is an emotionally involving account of true fires--physical and emotional. Set against the backdrop of the historic fires of Chicago and Peshtigo, a married couple is caught up in the flames, and the social issues that come before and after the events. One fire was in Chicago, the other in Wisconsin--both devastating and history-making. Buchheit intermingles fact with fiction, love with rage, fire with coldness. Beyond the fires and the romance, you will read about themes that may challenge or confirm your ideas on status, minority relations, and the environment. Robert and Liz are an interesting couple. They meet in London during their studies of neurolinguistics, then go to the United States for a project, only to eventually come face to face with the fires. The two encounter historic figures of the era, like John Muir, so you really get a sense of what life was like at that time, prior to and following the disasters. Buchheit has cleverly combined history with a love story, and the results are not only entertaining but informative. The images are an added bonus. History buffs will love this novel, as will readers who aren't so much into the history of the fires, but the human stories associated with them. These fires touched humanity around them in ways you may have never thought of. This author has conscientiously crafted characters that you will care about, and a compelling plot that is grounded in fact. The descriptions are visceral, the situations heartbreaking at times. The themes of this book go beyond research; they reach into your heart and mind, making you think about the value we place on life, property, and ideals we hold dear. For a powerful trip back in time to two fiery events and their place in history, be sure to pick up 1871: Rivers on Fire by Paul Buchheit.” Reviewed By Tammy Ruggles for Readers’ Favorite http://www.amazon.com/author/paulbuchheit Kindle: https://www.amazon.com/1871-Rivers-Fire-Paul-Buchheit-ebook/dp/B08KTLLDV5
