Don’t look away — not today. The 27 million people worldwide experiencing human trafficking deserve our attention.

January 11 is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. How will you do your part to help keep your community safe?

1️⃣ Learn the signs: Trafficking doesn’t always look how you might expect. Take the time to familiarize yourself with some indicators so you know what to look out for. https://www.covenanthouse.org/homeless-issues/human-trafficking

2️⃣ Spread the word: Make sure your whole network knows about this issue. Share about it on social media, have honest conversations with your family, and bring it up at your place of worship, book club, or neighborhood association!

We are thrilled to announce the official opening of our new Transitional Living Program: Rights of Passage (ROP)! This milestone marks the completion of the Campaign for Youth Potential, a $12 million fundraising initiative that enabled us to purchase and beautifully renovate our 3-story building in East Garfield Park. With the addition of ROP, we now have the capacity to provide shelter and wrapround supports to 56 young people and, with our slate of comprehensive, trauma-informed, tailored services, the ability to help hundreds more achieve their goals and permanently overcome homelessness. Since moving into this building in 2021, we have created safe spaces for youth to grow and learn while working toward independence. Every night in the city of Chicago, as many as 3,000 youth grapple with homelessness. Facing difficulties such as intergenerational poverty, neglect, exploitation, and/or mental health issues, what these youth are ultimately looking for is a place to call home.

Utilizing a holistic approach that employs guidance, mentorship, and care, Covenant House Illinois accepts each and every youth who walks through our doors with unconditional love and absolute respect.
