Another year, another 100% rating from the Illinois Environmental Council! With 5 years in a row at 100%, I am proud to be a champion for the environment in the Illinois Senate. I represent Lake Michigan and the Chicago River the same as I represent ~217,000 Illinoisans. I will continue to advocate for expansive environmental protection, especially as data centers and changing Federal rules threaten the natural world.

Attention folks living wtih HIV! AIDS Foundation Chicago (AFC) is conducting a HIV Stigma Survey to help us better understand the impact of stigma on Illinoisans living with HIV. Responses will inform policy and advocacy work.

Take the survey here:

Those who complete the survey can enter a raffle to win one of two $100 electronic gift cards (eGiftcards).

I have secured $300,000 for centralized planning of a Chicagoland Bike Grid!

Last night, I joined Bike Grid Now and Evanston Transit Alliance to examine the bike connections between Evanston/Chicago and note what safety infrastructure improvements should be made. With $300k established for bike grid planning, we are on the path to safe bikeways from the south suburbs to Evanston and all across Chicagoland.

Ravenswood Greenway refers to the series of connected gardens on the East side of the train tracks along Ravenswood Avenue from Addison to Peterson. I recently toured the gardens with a few of the leading community members who have managed the gardens for years.

We see much potential for the Ravenswood Greenway to evolve into a fully connected natural path. This evolution should involve much public input and engagement. Stay tuned for updates on the Ravenswood Greenway and how everyone can get involved with the future of these gardens.
