Unity Park Advisory Council (UPAC) facilitates the use of Unity Park by the public through the following:

-Maintenance and up-keep of the park
-Planning and fund-raising for capital
improvements
-Creating garden and art projects
-Planning and hosting special events at the park

From astronauts to cowboys, Day of the Dead dancers to our community partner organizations, everybody's here at Pumpkinfest 2024!!! State Rep. Will Guzzardi - 39th District, back from space thankfully, rushed over without even taking off his space suit to lead the costume parade through the throngs, as DJ Rebel X Victor Montanez spun up the really scary songs!

Thanks to all our volunteers (those red jacket City Year youth are lifesavers!) and sponsors, and thanks to you for gracing our Fall Classic!

See a preview of "Day of the Dead LIVE!" at Unity Parks Pumpkinfest 2024 on October 26th from 10am-2pm!

There will be puppets, stilt walkers, skeletons, and more!

"Please join us at the Harold Washington Library Center for six enchanting performances of Day of the Dead LIVE! This musical and acrobatic show will take you on a musical journey that is all FUN, celebrating Día de los Mu***os, the holiday of family remembrance. With diabolical music from classical and popular composers, Mexican and European, this is a one-hour piano and puppet performance boasting larger-than-life characters, including jugglers, stilt walkers, ghosts, skeletons, and dancers. It’s a witty, wild, cultured romp and the ultimate family reunion — with dearly departed ancestors as the guests of honor. Music is performed by virtuoso pianist Llewellyn Sánchez Werner. The merry life-sized puppets and direction from the circus-trained aerialist Juanita Cardenas."

Calling volunteers for Unity Park Clean up!

When: Saturday 10/19, Between 2 and 4pm

You don't have to stay the whole time!

Here's what we will do:
1. Weeding & litter pick up
2. Planting some donated perennials
3. Planting daffodil bulbs
4. Mopping the World Map
5. Filling some low spots
6. Thinning some shrubs (if time permits)

Tools will be provided. Wear your garden gloves if you have them!

Snailed It! 2024 When the jokes from the commentator and color guy had wound down, Charlie Cosmo - gastropod supreme once again emerged as the snail racing champion of the world! Farewell, Ricky! Saturday at Lucha Libre in the Park/Lucha Libre en el Parque, luchadores and fans in a 10-bell salute for our late friend and event founder Ricky The Janitor / El Hermoso, the French Cactus.

Thanks so much to the Grant Parks Music Festival and Night out at the Parks for creating this wonderful event at Unity Park. Over 200 neighbors enjoyed incredible music featuring the Festival’s String Fellows.
