The 15th District’s Explorers camping experience continues to be a highlight of 2026, creating lasting memories and making a meaningful impact on our Austin youth!
By taking young people away from the city during some of the most challenging weekends of the year, our officers provide an opportunity to disconnect from technology, step away from everyday pressures, and reconnect with nature, themselves, and one another.

Through outdoor adventures, teamwork, mentorship, and positive interactions with police officers, youth are reminded that their potential is limitless and that there are opportunities beyond their everyday surroundings.

Sometimes, the greatest impact begins when we unplug from the world and reconnect with what matters most.

The 15th District is committed to building relationships, inspiring the next generation, and creating positive experiences that will last a lifetime.

As part of Choose to Be G.R.E.A.T. Week, 15th District Youth Officer Williams visited McNair Elementary School on the West Side to speak with 7th, and 8th grade students about friendships, peer pressure, setting short- and long-term goals, and choosing the right circle of friends. Through the Gang Resistance Education and Training (G.R.E.A.T.) Program, students learn the importance of making positive choices, building healthy relationships, and staying on the right path while helping prevent youth violence and gang involvement.
